Watch out. More fakes hitting the market.

I thought that one of the main reasons to put that crappy Idaho Made stamp on the knives was to stop fakes. Whoops.

Just dont buy fakes and inform people about those.Individuals responsible for making and selling fakes should be put away...for good.:grumpy:

Why would that stop them? If they can replicate the CR stamp, Strider stamp, Hinderer stamp, surely they can replicate the Idaho Stamp.

I just saw listings for fake Umnumzaans and fake Small Classic Sebenzas.

So be warned. Just seeing that it is a small sebenza is no longer a good sign that it is real.

Also, the Umnumzaans in the pictures have Idaho Made stamps, so watch out.

It's getting scary out there.

Where did you see these? Please tell.

Well, I personally was hoping that the counterfeiters would draw the line at replicating it out of a pure aesthetic sensibility.

I think there's a rule against posting such links.
Plus there's really no need to advertise the place where people can buy theses pieces of junk.

Don't worry, you won't find them anywhere near authorized dealers or trusted sellers.

I wonder if there is a PHONE number we can call to complain about the fake listings. I once spent TWO DAYS emailing them about a fake listing that never got pulled.

Bottom line is...don't buy from sketchy sellers on eBay! If you look thru the auction listing, you can usually find an "authorized seller" mention somewhere...usually front and center. Check with CRK before you bid or buy.

If enough of us call and say we will not buy or sell if they continue to list fakes, they might wake up and pay attention.

Maybe, but I believe the forum has a responsibility to inform the uninformed.

You don't need to know where to buy them and that has nothing to do "with being informed". You just need to know they are out there and not to buy them.

I think this thread in itself has already provided sufficient information to "inform the uninformed"

Again,
Stick to authorized dealers and trusted sellers and you won't have anything to worry about.

Hi Heather,
I just sent you a link to a vendor selling these counterfeits.. Let me know how successful you are to stopping it! I wish you luck, and let me know how I (we) can help.

Could someone please send the link to where these are being sold to crkinfo@chrireeve.com? We would like to try and have them removed.
Thank you,
Heather

Honestly, I don't think there's cause for panic here. Yes there are "replicas" being made... and sold. And let me preface this with the point that I'm against copying anything, and infringing on the original makers name, efforts, etc. But, let's keep this in perspective... although I've seen a ton on fakes out there, some laughable, some scarily close to the real thing... I've never seen the sellers try and pass a fake off as a real one. They've always been around $100. I think there will always be folks that will buy these (and other fakes... Rolex's, handbags, etc etc) for a number of reasons.. don't have the money for the real thing or whatever. One response is almost universal for those who own the fakes.. that someday they will have a real one, and until then, they pretend. Status, whatever. I don't think it hurts the makers that much, as anyone who will purchase a real product, will still purchase a real one, regardless of fakes being available... So although it's wrong, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about them... just deal with reputable folks, and be aware. Has anyone heard of someone buying a fake thinking it was real, and paying real money for it?

Not true, i was just browsing around the bay and theres quite a few selling at normal prices from people with perfect feedback!:(

In the guitar world, counterfeits are used to bilk people all the time; the idea that they will remain 'open and acknowledged' in the knife world is very, very optimistic; the intent of these is to steal, plain and simple.

I wouldn't be so sure. The fake Ti-lock went so far as to copy the ball bearing and bushing system, and that isn't even a visible part. If they felt like putting a ceramic ball in, there's nothing stopping them. Remember, this is the country that builds your iPhone5 for you. We currently couldn't do that stateside if we wanted to. They can make a copy as exact as they feel is economically profitable.
.

Yes yes and unfortunately... yes.

My oh my, theres fake large and small starbenzas claiming to have s35vn steel also now. This one has no idaho stamp, but other than that, disturbingly like the real deal.

Yeah, now that we've got that phase out of the way and it didn't prevent anything how about we go back to leaving the scales elegant and pristine again. Maybe put the stamp on the hidden side? I think doing that might actually be a better attempt to prevent counterfeits than placing it in an obvious place where they'd be more compelled to copy it to satisfy buyers. Also, I cannot believe I can buy brand new shitty fake ones right now with no stamp, ughhhh!
