Watch out SAK'.. Boker is coming for you!! Boker Plus Tech Tool

Thanks for the Leg work Ramzar. Very helpful. And as others have said, I'll stick with my leathermans and SAKs.

The single blade model is £20 and the tooled up versions are up to £40 I think, chances are you guys will get it for a similar number of green.

I may go for the single bladed version and my main interest was the identifiable steel and pocket clip!

For $20, you can score a Cadet. A single bladed Boker (almost certainly made in China) versus a SAK Cadet? I don't know many folks who'd buy the Boker over the SAK.

Right, so that 20 quid is $31. For that price you can get a very nice SAK. Go on the bay and you can get a TSA confiscated SAK for half that or less. That is what I do.

I want these. Bad. I mean, I love my Victorinox knives, who doesn't, but I'm also a big sucker for green G-10.

These look nice. But, it's a stretch to think they will be better than a SAK. They better be priced competitively.

Boker Plus are usually discounted about 35% off MSRP. So, the following street prices are probable. Don't know if these will be made in China, Taiwan, Germany or somewhere else.

  1. City & Outdoor 1: $25
  2. City & Outdoor 2: $33
  3. City & Outdoor 3: $42
  4. City & Outdoor 4: $49

Boker Plus is China or Taiwan or Italy (some newer models are the latter).

Main Boker line has mainly been German-made.

Well, for a lot of folks it seems g10 + pocket clip = most awesome ever. I wouldn't mind having an actual cadet with those features personally, but as I stated earlier I've had bad luck with Bokers so I won't be buying one of theirs.

Boker is one of those strange companies that has products ranging from rebranded no-name garbage Chinese stuff through ultra-high-end collectors' pieces and everything in between. I like a lot of their stuff, you just have to be willing to dig through them to find the gems.

They look pretty cool, though I'm not sure if I would want to carry a knife that thick with a pocket clip.

Pocket clip is removable BUT a pocket clip is not always for the pants pocket. They work great for attaching the blade inside a pocket of a pack, or pouch such as molle accessories. SAK does not have this option.

Main thing I like is the half stop on the main blade. This is a difficult market (pocket multitools) to get into for any company.

Picked one up. Very different from Victorinox. Much more a modern take on a traditional concept. G10, screw together construction with adjustable pivots for the tools (some you have to live with two being adjusted at once), and the pocket clip. Initial fit and finish seems quite good.

I grabbed the outdoor 2, and it seems like a rough analog of my Vic Tourist (similar tool selection). Gotta say I prefer the Tech Tool. I don't know if it will be worth the price difference to most people, but I much prefer the G10 and screw together construction. The pocket clip is actually very good, but I ditched it as I carry knives that size clipless as a rule.

As soon as I saw this offering in the Böker catalogue, I was quite intrigued.... Victorinox has held this market (for years and years...) quite brilliantly, with their offer and their service (outstanding is only the beginning of it...). In the SAK niche, Victorinox is top, in every way. I'm not a fan boy, by lengths, but anyone would be hardpressed to talk down this brand. They ate up Wenger, by the way, so now you have a solid Swiss party opponing a German giant... I'm staying curious.

I've had the Outdoor 4 now for a week, and compared to a Vic, it has its ups and downs. I think the overall design of the Outdoor 4 is better than a SAK-- more comfortable to use, better materials, more secure in hand, a bit more rugged. Not quite up to Vic standards in fit/finish, though, especially in the scissors. Oh, what I wouldn't give to have Vic license the design and make them with Swiss attention to detail.

Good points, the screw construction and pocketclip could be beneficial.

What if this new boker multi tool
Is but a rebadged of a realsteel knife product out from PRC?
That being the case
There would be a possibility of it being a "liang gang design"
Just my 2 cents...

Wow. Interesting, more than likely you are right.

I got to handle one of these Boker's last weekend and seems to be well made. You can switch the pocket clip so it is tip or tip down, to suit your preference. A little bit small for my hand as I am used to my SAH OH knife. One thing that did puzzle me was that there is no can opener? John
