"Watch Pocket" Knife

I'll add to the chorus of carrying a small slipjoint in that pocket. Very convenient.

I've carried small slipjoints in that pocket but most days it's reserved for a Leatherman Micra with my slipjoint of the day riding in my right front pocket just below.

I have a hard time letting myself use the watch pocket. I've dropped knives out of the 5th pocket on several occasions (luckily they didn't get lost...), and my job requires that I crawl & climb around in weird positions & situations a whole lot, so it's not my preferred carry method. I generally drop my knife in the bottom of the front pocket, or in a back pocket under a bandana.

I also carry my Case Swayback in my watch pocket. It sits at an angle with the bolster end up it hooks underneath the seam. This keeps it more locked in the pocket when I sit down.

I always carry my slipjoints in my watch pocket. Very easy to access the knife.

I didn't like the nearly vertical position that the knife sat in the watch pocket of my Levis so I found some jeans that allow horizontal carry in the watch pocket of anything up to about 4 1/2 inches.

It's been working out great for over a year now.

Yup!. This is me as well. Anything 4 inches closed or less, excluding regular frame -- large frames like Trapper type patterns, ect.

Oh, you meant a 'watch pocket' knife!

At first I thought you meant a 'pocket watch' knife. There have been some made with a special blade used to open watch cases. Which, I suppose, could be carried in a watch pocket.

My watch pocket is empty. The knife goes in the right front, usually by itself.

Yes Dr. Bill. I realized the title was misleading after I posted it! Thanks for everyones replies. It's good to see so many people are carrying more than one at a time!

Fixed.

I have a couple of older pairs of 'Arizona' jeans (JC Penney house brand) that are pretty unique, with regard to the 'watch' pocket. The pocket is vertical, and about 4-1/4" deep and 2-1/2" wide inside. Deep enough to fully clip a large Sebenza with the knife just touching the bottom of the pocket. I've also carried a Buck 112 in there, it just barely peeks out the top of the pocket. I've come to really like wearing these jeans for just this reason. Most days, I have my Case TB5339SS Sowbelly (3-7/8") in this pocket. It snuggles down in there like it was a nice, comfy sleeping bag.

I'm with puukkoman - too many close calls with a knife slipping out. Even a knife as small as 3 1/8" pokes its head out... You guys must have some big watch pockets. Mine are usually on 505's.

I get these Wrangler Carpenter jeans from Walmart. They are a relaxed fit.
The watch pocket holds up to,my largest folder,a 4-1/8 " BP knife

Mike,

This is quite ironic for me because I stopped buying Levis 505's and others in favor of Wrangler's and Dickie's precisely because of the wimpy watch pockets. :D

Most all of mine are the wider 550's, and my 3 1/4" swayback fits flat across the bottom. The 550's are a wider cut, and me wearing a 38 may be why it fits in better than in the 505's.

I bet the 4th graders didn't pick on you did they:p

I need to try some of those wranglers like you have. Sounds like a full sized knife will fit in those.

I think the .38 Vince refers to was "caliber", so you're right, nobody picked on him.
