Water...at home, what do you do ?

That's impressive, you may be the only person that I've ever met that is that serious about water storage.
We live in a rural area where wells are the norm, both shallow and deep. Wanting to avoid the late season supply concerns of shallow wells and the mineral salts of the deep wells in our area we opted for rainwater. The standard filters, UV lights, etc. seemed expensive, high maintenance, gimmicks designed by marketers so we built our slow sand filter. Zero maintenance in 15 yrs.

I like your system the best so far of all these setups.......

Lived most of my life in coastal suburbia with a municipal water supply: drinking water from the tap, no complaints.

Moved to the remote rural high desert ~2.5 years ago: lovely custom family house, tons of space, privacy, beautiful views, private well (750 ft.) and THE WORST WATER EVER (slight exaggeration. slight.)
We have a whole-house Reverse Osmosis filtration system, with prefilters (sediment filters), a nanofilter, anti-scalant, UV filter, several other filters, and currently* 6 membranes on the RO unit itself. Still can't drink the water--too much arsenic. Also, the prefilters clog easily and that causes problems--probably(?) because of very high Total Dissolved Solids from the well.
*We're actually replacing most of the system in a few days because reasons. We're adding a component which injects a small amount of chlorine into the well water, which hopefully will ameliorate the arsenic problem. How? Chemistry! (I never studied chemistry.)
If I sound frustrated... well, let's just say this has required a lot of patience, and a metric fuck-ton of money for the equipment (and the maintenance.) I shouldn't really be frustrated, because (in retrospect) what did I expect from a fairly deep well dug into the foothills of a large mesa in the high desert?
/rant

We currently buy bottled water for drinking. Yea, the microplastics are probably clogging up my brain but what are you gonna do? The two hemispheres are fundamentally at odds. Hemisphere... hemisphere...
;)
