Water Treatment

After reading this thread, and doing a bit more research on my own, I bought the Vario. It just showed up today, and I have only done a function check so far.
The first couple pumps caused it to eject a cloudy black water at first. I'm guessing this was powdered charcoal? It cleared up almost immediately. :)
BTW, I'm still keeping an eye out for a suitable backup filter too. ;)
