Water Water Everywhere.....

G'day Brian

As a general rule, boiling points of compounds increase with increasing molecular mass (although the polar nature of the water molecule makes it an exception to this rule).

Since most chemical contaminants have relatively high molecular masses, most should have a boiling point higher than water :D

Kind regards
Mick

Thanks Mick, I appreciate that. Good info to know

Great thread. Call me paranoid but after seeing what my dog went through earlier this summer after drinking plain old creek water, I carry suffient water with me even on a day hike.

I also carry fire making items and a pot for boiling water , chemical tablets, a Katadyn Hiker water bottle with filter, and plenty of items for filtering murky water.

I agree dehydration is to be avoided at all cost but a bad bug can ravage your system big time.

Thanks for the thread mistwalker.

Thanks, I'm usually a lot better prepared than this too for my own reasons.

What happened with your dog?
