My small company is looking for a few more Knife Maker partners.

We can save you time and material by waterjet machining your knife blanks and composite handle material. You can depend on us for anything from prototypes and low quantities to production runs. We provide quality and experience along with short delivery times.

We've been in business for 20 years and are a registered ISO 9001:2008 company. We also offer conventional and CNC machining as well as precision TIG welding.

Need your patterns converted to CAD? We offer raster to vector conversions and can scan your patterns and convert them to a clean DXF CAD file and accurately machine your blanks. Once your design is created you can be assured it will not be shared with others. Our customer list is also held confidential so you won't find you name listed on forums but referrals are always welcomed.

Prices are based on material thickness, blank size and quantity.

We currently do not offer raw material due to numerous choices and customer requirements but feel free to drop ship stock from your preferred supplier. We will provide a print with your order so you know we made the best possible yield without loss of material.

For more information don't hesitate to contact me at h2ocut@verizon.net or h2oknife@me.com

Thank you for your consideration.

I may be wrong, but I thought you had to be a dealer to advertise on BFC?

Thanks for your concern but I asked Sparks what membership I needed to do to get started and was directed to a maker membership.

I really like this idea.

Let me get a little better at this and I'll definitely be in touch.

..so by partners, you just mean customers ?

Partner, collaborator: an associate in an activity or endeavor or sphere of common interest

Partners of mine have applications and I have 60,000 PSI equipment to chew thru tough material. I can Save you time and the eliminate the chance of developing bloody digits without the ownership expenses of having your own machine.

...so that means yes?

This is who you are competing against, he is fairly well established here

12345678910, dave is no longer a member of bladeforums so how do you see him as competition?

...really?, I knew him to be at KnifeDogs, but didn't know he gave up BF entirely...

- he is still in business though right ?

- just trying to show the man what others in this field are doing and what we have come to expect...
ie
1. No set-up fee.
2. No minimum or maximum parts limit, but there is a $100.00 minimum per order.
3. No charge for CAD design. I can work from a template, pictures, drawings or just about anything else.
( I think these are important points for most knifemakers doing small runs)

I welcome H2Oknife to show us how he is better than GL

I've read statements on BF that even referring to EBay has been commented that it is advertising. Get real! I've yet not to see references to the KMG and WSSI (no pun against either company)weekly and no-one complaining. I guess it depends who you are.

Competition exists everywhere. Mark has every right to advertise here just like me or any other person with the proper paid membership to do so.

For what its worth Mark just cut out a lot of my stuff in both ti and four different types of steel after we spoke on the phone. He even went through stuff one by one with me with some of the blade blanks I wanted changed. We did this repeatedly over the phone and in emails until we got the changes I wanted done to my satisfaction before he cut anything. He was very patient with me over the phone and I found the experience enjoyable albeit a bit time consuming, which was all my fault not his. After I sent him the DXF data files and he got the materials for my stuff I needed cut he was already getting after it practically the day the stuff arrived in the mail to him. So fast in fact that it could easily spoil someone in no time at all with service like that! I don't see this as a bad thing.

He is a good man and he is a paid member of this forum. For this alone he deserves some support. He also lives in a state where I'm sure anything you send his way will be appreciated.

Thank you for all the comments and replies.

There has been numerous inquiries if I could carry raw material. I am looking at the CPM alloys as well as 1095 and D2 in 3/32, 1/8 and 3/16 thicknesses but would like to get some feedback if you think there is something else out there you are interested in.

Another reoccurring topic has been set up charges and minimum charges. On the setup all I need is a template of what you want made, it can be paper, aluminum, steel, scanned trace or an actual part. I will convert it to a clean dxf file, then cut and send you the samples made from hot rolled sheet for your approval. All I ask is you cover the actual shipping charge (low risk for new customers). There is no set up charge to do the conversion from your template to to a dxf. The software I am using is a premium package (not free) and does great output. It does not have the dreaded "done by CAD/CAM process" look to it. All the arcs and lines are very exact with nice flowing geometry.

My prices are based on raw material size, thickness and quantity. There is a minimum charge of $100 on your actual orders, no charge for template to CAD conversions.

Blade 2010 is rapidly approaching, so if you are interested in a confidential professional waterjet supplier with quick turn around we look forward to working with you.

Thank you,

Really Wow, I cannot believe you are being this disrespectful. how would you feel if every knife you tried to sell someone did this to you.

I Personally consider Dave for GLWJ a friend and I do not think he would appreciate this bashing of another company.

Ern

It was a fair question, the very first post was very short and in "marketing speak" asking for "partners" was unclear to me as to whether he just wanted customers, or was looking for someone to invest $ in his company...
In my opinion it had that scam/spam email vibe...

Yes I was taught to write in formal language for business letters too, but it seemed a bit "off" for the informal atmosphere here.
(and he has since edited his first post to be much more clear and provide considerably more info)

and

I wanted him to be aware of the services GLWJ offered to see what services he offers.
As I said "I welcome H2Oknife to show us how he is better than GLWJ"
I wanted to see his competitive advantage.
As I now see, his conditions regarding the setup fees and minimum order are the same and I applaud that.

Additional info has been given to me offline by people whom I trust and I will not hesitate to use H2OKnife when I need to water-jet parts.

Do you have any experience cutting:

the phenolic materials such as G10, Micarta...
Titanium

How do those cuts differ from steel, and what do we need to know about them
those materials, G10 in particular are pretty hard on the bandsaw blades

Mark and I have spoke on the phone a few times. He offers the same service as I do. He can cut your parts like I can. If you prefer to use H2O's services, I will be glad to transfer the CAD I have done for you to him, right Steve? Mr. Numbers, I don't know you. Don't talk bad about something you know nothing about. Mark is not "competition". If anything, he is a great asset and I am glad to have him as a friend. If I break down, he would cover my back as I would do for him. So its not competition so to speak. I'm glad to have some "help" in this business. Mark, call anytime.

If everyone would just take a breath and reread what i have posted...

I have "bashed" no one.
What part of my posts are bashing?
Someone is reading in something that was not intended to be there.

Maybe I should have written more eloquently, but I was just asking the new member to show us what he offers benchmarked against the current service provided by GLWJ .

H2OKnife has now edited his origional post to be much more readable and has provided much more info. As my comments are taken out of context, it makes my replies seem much more harsh.
