Waterjet Machined Knife Blanks

This is a question for either Greatlakes or H2O.

I do a lot of my profile design in Adobe Illustrator. What file format do I need to save out as in order for you to extract the vectored file? The "native" format is from illustrator is *******.ai but I also can save as a pdf. There's often a lot of detail work in the profile, so I prefer that it not be redrawn.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Kent,

Save as a tif format and I'll vertorize it.
Pdf is ok for referance but not for making details.

Thanks,

That's the thing. It's already a vector drawing, scaled perfectly. Does your program accept vectored cad files and if so, what is the file extension I need to use?

If I absolutely must convert my image into a raster file for you to change back into a vector, what resolution is best?

DXF format is what I need.
Not sure if that's an option for Adobe Illustrator.
We use Mastercam, ProE and Omax waterjet software. The only experience I have with Adobe is Lightroom and Acrobat.

Thanks that's exactly what I needed to know!

There are plenty of plug-ins available for illustrator so I can save to DXF.

Of course, you'll need to review the file to make sure everything is good on your end, I just think it might be a bit more accurate to go straight from vector to metal rather than go vector, raster, back to vector, then to metal. Just one of those "copy of a copy" things.

See ya all at Blade
