I personally LOVE this feature and think its the coolest thing to happen to knives since g10. Just curious..Are there any of you emerson fans who dont like this feature and if not why?

i love it, but the emersons i like the best dont have it, my fav the CQC8 (i have 2, a SF/EKI '8 and a custom zero bevel '8) isnt waved except for a few customs, #2 is the P-Tac (have 2 of those too, a ECA zero bevel and a std EKI) no wave, #3 is the SOCFK, which is waved, the I&I tanto #4, no wave(of all the EKI's the commander is the 1 i like the least).

anyway, point being, i dont see why ALL the emerson knives dont have the wave.

I really like the wave, it's fun to play with, and plenty functional. I love the look on peoples faces when they are bragging about an auto and then see a waved blade fly out of a pocket :D

I wish the production 8's were waved as well. I have one of the customs with a wave, but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to carry it or not. I'm thinking I may have to pick up a production one to play with for a while to help me decide.

I hate the wave. It keeps catching on my pocket and opening the knife as I pull it out! LOL J/K :D

Catch the Wave! It Rocks! I love it!

The Wave is one of the coolest things to ever happen to folding knives!

Huge two thumbs up!

I can't understand why EKI doesn't offer waved versions of all their knives. In fact, they should wave them all, and offer a few un-waved versions. I want to get a EKI, but the models I want don't have the wave. I'm working on a SOCFK now, but I really want a waved mini-CQC7A PE. I might pick up a mini-CQC7B PE (waved, of course). All the Hardware series should be waved, IMHO. I'd get several, and I think it would put a serious dent in Spyderco's FRN series (they're made in same factory, right?)

go ahead and carry it, ya wont regret it imho, love carrying my custom '8, the only bad is i need to be careful what i cut cuz of the zero bevel edge, which is the sharpest knife i have ever seen, but is rather thin/difficult to sharpen.............

As I am considering the purchase of a Commander, do any of you have a couple of pictures demonstrating "the WAVE"? I have never had the pleaseure of fondling an Emerson, no pun intended. I would also like a little feedback on the lock-up. How well does the liner lock work? Any failure problems? I have heard mixed reviews. Thanks in advance fellas.

EDIT: I have found a video, but still can't get a good view of how it works. Anybody got anything else?

I love the wave, but I get tired of pulling out and showing people! After I pull it out they want to put it in their pocket and try it. Love it :)

The only problem I've had with the wave happened because I carry my wallet in the same pocket as my knife... namely, the back right pocket of my jeans. Once, and only once, the wallet snagged on the wave on my commander, and opened the knife up in my pocket. I reached in later for my wallet, and got a light cut on my thumb. I was a little confused, this hadn't happened before, so sure enough, I reached in again, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzip! Showed myself just how sharp a knife can be, even if it doesn't shave hair, and cut my thumb again, but more deeply. Naturally, I was a bit more cautious the third time around. (Yes, I reached in the third time. I still needed my wallet, and wanted to get that knife closed.)

So... word to the wise. Dont' keep anything else in your knife pocket. waved knives don't play well with others. (Not that they're designed to)

dont laugh or throw sticks and stones at me but exactly what is an Emerson wave? :footinmou
It is a blade opening device...look at the top of the blade of a SARK, PSARK, Commander, Karambit, SOFCK, HMMV-K, or the newer CQC-7. To some it looks like a Blade catcher and it's shaped like a mini "tidal wave". as you draw the knife from your pocket it catches on the hem of your pocket and pops the knife open.

It's the greatest advantage to carrying an Emerson knife for defensive purposes.

Go to Emersons web site. The site has video demos for acouple different models. let the clips play thru once, and then click play again(the first time is choppy)

I am a big fan of wave featured emersons, I currently own 3 and I have a Hmmv on order. Nothing out there is as easy to learn. Just dont settle for learning how it works though. Take a course from a qualified instructor and become proficient with your blade. Best wishes.

As far as the liner lock questions go...You will find different opinions on this topic. I can only share with you my experiences.

I own 2 Commanders and 1 Cqc7. i have never had a liner lock failure with any of my emersons, and i carry at least one with me at all times.

Maintain and inspect your knifes lock-up frequently. over time they will wear and need service. Emerson will take care of any type of service you may need without any problems.

Be skeptical to any posts that use big numbers provided by manufacturers testing claims to try and impress you. Anyone can prove Anything in a controlled environment.

Emersons are high quality without question. I highly recommend Emerson knives.

The "Emerson Wave" is the best thing to happen to folders since pocket clips.

I cherish my Emerson knives, I hope the quality continues on for years to come.. :D Just bought a super CQC7 /BTS to add to my Emerson collection,
ThankYou EE keep up the Great work Sir!

I was a little skeptical at first sight of the wave on the commander when I bought it, but after trying it once or twice I was in love with the speed and eas of use. some time later, I now carry my emerson karambit everyday while on duty (law enforcement) and my commander when off duty. I only wish I had bought my CQC-7 AFTER they came with the wave, mine was made before the "wave crested" and became the norm. Any of you wave haters want to trade a CQC-7 w/o a wave for one with? hmm? any takers??.... oh well, I still have my other two...
