wave feature - like or dislike?

easy there you two... :D

thats what i'm saying....i don't see where i did anything wrong....i modified something to suit my needs, the same thing any other person would do....no big deal to me....

I guess the "problem" I have is someone coming into Mr. Emerson's forum, and bashing his patented design, then admitting to mutilating not just one, but two of his knives, when a little bit of research would have allowed you to buy an Emerson without the "wave" in the first place. I could be wrong, but smells like a troll to me. If I'm wrong, I apologize.

not once did i bash his design. obviously it's a feature that many people like, put it's a preference thing. i don't like it, and i gave a reason for it too. as for mutilating, i don't think i did that. i modified the best style of knife that i have ever owned to suite my needs, since i couldn't get one the way i wanted it.

I can't understand why EKI doesn't offer waved versions of all their knives. In fact, they should wave them all, and offer a few un-waved versions. I want to get a EKI, but the models I want don't have the wave. I'm working on a SOCFK now, but I really want a waved mini-CQC7A PE. I might pick up a mini-CQC7B PE (waved, of course). All the Hardware series should be waved, IMHO. I'd get several, and I think it would put a serious dent in Spyderco's FRN series (they're made in same factory, right?)

IT IS VERY VERY simple to add a Wave to any hard wear series knife by taking a dremel tool to the tip side of the thumb hole, you only need about an eighth of an inch cut to make a nice wave like stub that will catch on your pocket and voila

emerson doesnt care if an individual owner mods his/her knife to wave it.

now, if ya started making waved knives to sell, another story.

Anyone know of some good places to order waved emersons for a good price? I would actually prefer to handle one before ordering, but I can't seem to find a distributor in Houston or Austin, Texas. Also, do a lot of people seem to have problems with the wave cutting up their pant pockets? Thanks for the help.

Try TAD Gear or Schmuckatelli.
I have been carrying waved Emerson's since 1999 and I've suffered no damage to any of my clothes. Of course, I only wave my knife when needed (two-three times per day).

I made a couple of frame lock CQC8-type knives awhile back. I could have waved 'em, but did'nt....fool that I am. Rumour has it that there will be a waved CQC8 out sometime in '05. COOL!!!!!.

there is a guy at the austin gunshow who sells a lot of Benchmade, microtech, etc and emersons, dont remember his name, but there is only 2-3 booths selling knives, he makes most shows, i know he is on this board occasionally, dont know if he makes the houston show but have seen him in austin and laredo all the time.

Appreciate it. I will look for him at the next Saxet show. The last time I went I wasn't paying enough attention to the knife booths. I actually ran around Houston a little bit today only to find some people selling CS knives at an inflated rate. $100 for a Recon 1? Crazy.

I personally LOVE this feature and think its the coolest thing to happen to knives since g10. Just curious..Are there any of you emerson fans who dont like this feature and if not why?

Great feature. However, I wish Emerson would explore other locks, like Axis and ones similar to it.

victor ya might check out 'the cutting edge' in round rock, he occasionally has EKI knives,
