"Wavy W's" Pattern Damascus in 1095/15n20:

Bar #1 (Left): .231" thick, 10 1/2" long ~1 1/2" wide - SOLD
Bar #2 (Right): .223" thick, 10 7/8" long, ~1 1/2" wide - SOLD

I'd recommend these billets for stock removal. The more you grind, the more you will get out of this pattern.

All steel had been blanchard ground and spheroidize annealed. All damascus comes with my guarantee that the steel will be free of inclusions or defects, or your money back. All prices include shipping.

i have used dekers steel and trust his work and word

if this is still here after i use up the steel he made for me not long ago i ll be picking it up

You are posting some nice stuff but do you have anything that is thinner for us folder guys? I hate to surface grind off .110+

This first batch was basically stuff I had forged out for myself and so it's in sizes I tend to use. What sizes and thicknesses do folder guys want? i'm hapy to make more :)

P.S. For what it's worth, taking .110" off of this should bring you into the better part of the pattern. I probably should have had these ground a bit thinner.

Your steel all looks great!

Did you strike up a deal with a machine shop on the blanchard grinding? I've seen a few for sale in the 24-36" table size, and they were in the $20k-40k price range! Doubt I'll be adding one to the shop anytime soon... I see Chad Nichols has one!

It looks like great steel at a very fair price, I hope this does well for you deker :)

Thanks Nick! It means a lot to get a thumbs up from a guy who's work I admire as much as I do yours.

I found a place about a half hour away that specializes in precision grinding. I had them blanchard grind this just to get it flat, but they do surface grinding, etc as well. He underestimated the uglyness of the material coming in so he lost a little money on this first batch (I TRIED to pay him what he spent, but he wouldn't take it). In the future I'd pay $15 a bar for stuff like this to be ground. Now, if I could be more consistent with thickness (I'm working on that) so he could toss more on the machine at once it would get cheaper. Either way, it's not bad at all if I can request a specific thickness! The one thing I think I'd have to worry about there is making sure they grind both sides evenly so the pattern doesn't appear more on one side (with stuff like twists, etc).

Now, back to my regularly scheduled program of sales:

"C'mon you guys! That Christmas money your Grandma sent won't spend itself! Buy some steel!"" :D

Sounds like a rolling mill would be a cheaper (and way cool) solution to the thickness problem :D

You damascus looks great. I just have to work myself up to being good enough to deserve to use it.

I've got a buddy with a small rolling mill I can use from time to time, but I'd eventually like to have one in the shop...So you guys should buy some steel to feed my "shop fund" so I can make more steel to sell you! :)

Nothin' to it but to do it!
