I'll take it. Pp info please?

M*** G***
chopstoo

His PayPal info included his shipping address and that is what I used:

M*** G***
746 w*******
Hastings, NE 6****
United States

Tracking info shows it was delivered.

I haven't heard from him prior to this notification. I have forwarded all of this information to him asking for an explanation. I was only able to input the tracking information into the dispute settlement page. I've never been through anything like this before and don't know what to do or what to expect. Please advise!

I wouldn't worry about it, bro.

I will vouch for your sterling reputation having dealt with you before. Much higher end transaction, mind you.

Present the facts to the best of your ability and thank God that it's only $40.

I think it also speaks for the other party that they didn't contact/notify you at all.

Not cool.

I always provide tracking information to PayPal, you can "attach" it to the transaction and it sends the data to the buyer. Now, I obviously don't know if you did this already, but it does provide evidence that it was shipped. And if the package is insured, and "not delivered," then the insurance covers the buyer's end assuming he or she files a claim with USPS. Of course, it is easier to scam you than to scam the USPS.

With all that said, from now on I advise you only sell to members with good feedback or those who post a lot. They are less likely to burn their account for a $40 knife.

I stopped taking "gift" payments a while ago for similar reasons, and I was gratified to find that PayPal -autofilled- the tracking information from the transaction when it prompted me for it. I had used his paypal shipping address and shipped it from PayPal's shipping service. It was all tied to the account from the get-go, and I have emails and post records to match. The thread is even locked and cannot be edited for him to change his post.

Not sure I am following this. How does PP justify that a transaction that went through their system and was approved by them was not an authorized purchase. You didn't take the money the buyer sent it, passing all the checks along the way. I don't see how this should be your problem. This is PP's job. When they say approved to ship, that should be all you needed. This verification is part of the service that you pay fees for. Am I missing something?

I had one cretin do this with a $500 knife, although he was in contact with me and started saying he didn't get the package (although I talked with the supervisor at the small town post office that said she handed it to him...) -

I had waited for the transaction for the paypal seller protection to take effect, but I still had to wait for over a week when paypal froze the funds in my account, they eventually released the funds and I was on my way.

Good luck - I hope you don't get taken.

best

It sounds like the person is claiming that someone used his PayPal account without his permission? to make an unauthorized purchase??

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Sorry you're having to go thru this, Comeuppance.

Forward everything to Paypal. Sounds like buyers remorse or something to me.
If, someone else used his Paypal account without permission, then that is HIS problem. He needs to be more responsible with his finances as does everyone on here. This is one game we don't play on here at all.

If you still have all the emails documenting the transaction, then you need to forward that entire chain of emails to PayPal. I'll send the guy a link and see what his version of events are, should be good to say the least. What is even more interesting is that he has turned off his email, but that isn't a problem for me.
One last thing, do NOT edit or log back into that thread at all. Leave the time stamps in place, those cannot be modified unless you reopen and edit your post.

Sounds like a plan, sir  thank you!

I also will vouch for you anytime you may need it. You have done exactly as you said with me. Great communications, Fast shipping with overkill packaging and knife was exactly as described with pictures that were clear and precise. What more could a buyer ask for?

THIS HAS BEEN RESOLVED! He got back to me. Apparently he looked at his bank statement and saw just a snippet of my paypal email address:

My sincere apologies! I contested a charge on my credit card listed simple as "flyingpenis" I will contact them now and clear this up.

He has since re-sent the $40 and is clear in my book.

Thank you, everyone, for your advice and kind words. You guys are why I love this place! I need to do another giveaway.

Lol I think I would be concerned as well if I saw a "flyingpenis" charge on my account.

yep, best honest excuse ever for denying a charge...i would have done the same thing unless i remembered the email name.

I figured this was a likely scenario.
You did well for not flying off the handle, naming the buyer, giving out his address etc. This is an excellent example of why a careful and measured response is good :)

I feel like an ass for this whole mess. I've had some recent hinky charges and took a holding pattern until pp advised me of the whole charge w/details. Appoligies to the seller, who was a gentleman, as well as the forum.
