Hello all,

The We Knives Drakon is an Integral Framelock with an M390 blade. I personally love the design, I think it's one of the coolest looking production knives I've seen to date. This knife has gotten no press at all for the most part and so I've been weary to take the plunge and buy it. What do you all think of it if you've seen it and maybe give your thoughts if any of you happen to own one?

Thanks!

I guess I feel like some people will either really like the look of the scales(actual scales haha) or they will think it looks really cheesy.

They've used that pattern (e.g. on the 604 series) for years, why would it be polarizing now?

I think the scales are fine. Not really my style generally, but kinda fun in a geeky "Game of Thrones" way (of which I am a huge fan). I think the only problem is it should be a bigger knife - nearly 9 or a little over would have been cool. Seems small for the statement the milling is making.

I've loved dragons for almost 15 years now. So this knife is pretty perfect for me, which is why I bought it when they first came out. Great knife, only issue is the scales making it a tad difficult to slide the knife in the pocket.

Overall, 9.5/10. One of my favorite knives.

It's funny. Reading the description alone makes me lean toward, "No way. Sounds so cheesy." But the actual design and execution is very good looking in my opinion. Not totally my style but still pretty good looking. It's slender with a great blade profile. And the scales, I think, are pretty nice looking. I'd imagine that pattern offers pretty good traction as well. Good materials as well. The flip side of this this however, and I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion, but to me $300+ for a Chinese knife just isn't ever going to happen for me. I know that WE is quality. And I'm not bashing them as a company. But I'm a former serviceman, a combat veteran, and a staunch supporter of the American worker. I know that MOST of the products I own are likely made in China. But a lot is out of my control. I'd just rather buy my tools from domestic manufacturers. Also, for the record, I am NOT trying to turn this into a China bashing thread. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

My issue with the American only problem is why not just buy from multiple countries? There are tons of knife designs that just dont exist in America, so why not buy those designs that you like from another country? WE is easily on par with ZT, so the country of origin really shouldn't matter when it comes to the price. The American made integral Benchmade Anthem is 125 bucks more than the Drakon, and from what I gather it's just as likely to have quality issues as any other benchmade. Plus the pocket clip is complete trash on it since it doesnt touch the scale.

I'm a huge fan of Game of Thrones, and also seeing as I would definitely like to carry this knife, I'm okay with the size it is, as much bigger and it would get to be a little too much in the work environment.

I get that. For a lot of people this is near their upper size limit (seems like 7.5 - 8.5 is the sweet spot for a lot of folks). I like bigger knives. I'm carrying a Spyderco Resilience atm. I generally avoid anything under 8" or under.

I really do agree with you. And to be fair, I do like some of the Italian offerings out there these days. I guess it’s almost ideological. I don’t want my money to go into a communist market. Just my personal preference. I’m also 100% with you in regards to BM. They’ve been getting less and less of my business for several years now. But like I said, the quality is totally there. It’s just not where I’m gonna put my money. Simple personal preference. Also, to your point; WE is up there with ZT... and as of now, nothing in the ZT line up is $300+. Sooooo... I dunno, man. But please buy what you like! That’s the beauty of this hobby

Well props to you for that man, there's nothing wrong with that. My wife got me a Resilience when I first got into knives and I had no idea how big it was, haha it's way too big for me to carry on the daily but that's my preference.

That is really great to know. I wear dress pants for my job, do you think that I'd have bad pocket ripping issues if I were to carry this knife?

The look of the knife is growing on me the more that I look at it. If your thinking on getting one be sure to take a look at the ones with the Damasteel blades. The almost mirror finish of the Damasteel blade next to the scaled pattern scales puts this integral over the top IMO.

Looks to me like it would be fine with thin dress pants. Although the scales look aggressive on closer inspection they appear to be well smoothed by being tumbled and the pocket clip has some nice ramp to it.

Good reply, appreciate the civility.

But to be fair most We knives are closer to the ZT prices. The integrals and weirder ones are around 300, like the Double Helix. And then of course the special damasteel ones. Especially after the recent increase to Zt's, like the 0470 being $260 now.
