We should have a HI Khukuri gathering this year.

I was wondering if anyone would like to have a gathering for Khukuri lovers this year? I figured it would be nice to meet everyone in person and discuss new model and new testing procedures for HI Khukuris. We could all get hotel rooms in Reno and maybe treat it like a convention (if there is enough interest) or a small group activity. Well, let's see if there is enough interest in this.

Sounds like a great idea to me!

Not room enough at Uncle Bill's Cantina for everybody but the Atlantis Hotel Casino is just across the street and it has plenty of rooms for everybody. Remember, weekend rates are higher than mid-week.

Khukuri FAQ

Kind of like a "Hot August Nights" only with people being much more polite around us and our babies?

I'd love to go, but air fare from Hawaii and a new baby in the house would bankrupt me! and then I'd have no $$$ for Khuks--AAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH what a horrible thought

Count me in!

I'll be living back in Phoenix pretty soon and I'd LOVE to drive out to Reno and meet everyone in person instead of over these infernal machines...

Sounds great! I'm pretty busy with schoolwork until mid-August, when I should be finishing up my degree. After that, I could probably fit it in.

Augsut is okay if you avoid Hot August Nights, the antique and classic car festival here. If we get serious I'll find out when it is so we can miss it. Believe me, I try to stay in when that madness is going on in the streets.

Khukuri FAQ

I think it sounds great! I'd love to meet everyone, and I'm sure that I'd gain a great deal of wisdom talking with all of you. I've thought many times how awsome it would be to have some huge gathering of khukuri lovers. In short, count me in.

With a lot of khukuriholics and thus a lot of "sharper than scalpel" khuks that would not let us leave them home in close proximity, my Transylvanian genes are thinking we'd better schedule it right after one of the local blood drives so there'll plenty of replacement units of blood on hand. LOL

Hey, maybe someone should contact Mike and set up a national knifee knut blood drive every year! As a public service, and for good publicity, that is. ROTFLMAO

Ach, don't tempt me. 'Course, if there's a local 600-yard range and a thirty-ought-six I could borrow for an afternoon, that'd constitute temptation beyond endurance...

Tom I know a guy that may just be able to offer the "piece de resistonce." (vbeseg)

This sounds great and I would love to make it, but probably not possible this year.

We have a g'son geting married and a g'daughter graduating and that's gonna take up most of the travel money for this year

If you mix milk of magnesia with vodka and orange juice do you get a phillips screwdriver?

Khukuri FAQ

Hey Tom,
I have a friend who has a Firearms training center near Reno. They cater to Military and Law Enforcement personnel. They also have civilian classes. The training center is called Camp C.Q.B.. You can find their web site in the AOL section, use their search function to access it. We might be able to use one of their ranges if you or anyone is interested.

If indeed this gathering of khukuri knuts does indeed get off the ground, I would suggest those who are planning to attend consider the possibility of a commemorative khukuri for this special occassion. I don't think that it would need to be a kothimoda type, but could be one of the more popular models that could have something like "H.I. Khukuri Knuts Konvention August 2000" engraved on the blade. Think of the fond memories brought back to life, every time you look at and use this khuk...

What do you think?
