I am debating whether or not I will install Tapatalk. Tapatalk was introduced before "responsive" design was a common feature on most websites. Now that most sites are built "phone friendly" from the get go, it may no longer be needed.

As a primarily phone based user I vote +1 for supporting Tapatalk.
Though it'd be only a minor inconvenience, especially if the new software is more smartphone compatible.
Thanks Spark!

Thanks for the response , taptalk does have some nice features such as not having to check in your e mail on your phone "which is mostly what I use " for thread responses is a nice feature it gives you a instant message directly on my phone. Also for downloading photos from your phone on threads it's simple with taptalk and no additional apps are needed like photobuck etc.

The site layout/appearance under the Beta-testing link looks good (in my opinion). Looking forward to it "going live" ... good luck with the roll-out!

If the new site is phone friendly, why not get with the times and bump tapatalk

Guess it depends how phone friendly it is .
Taptalk is with the times FYI lol .
It's one of the most forum friendly apps you probably ever need or have used .[emoji6]

I'll use the link and give it a shot. The main advantage of Tapatalk is aggragated content across different knife sites and collecting sites. I get all my knife, fountain pen and guitar stuff in one place.

But I am not married to it and don't think I can live without this place.

I'm torn on Tapatalk. It's a terrible app, but it also allows me to not worry about staying logged in on my phone/tablet browser, etc, and makes browsing a bit more friendly. I'll say though, I just tested the xf demo site, and it's very nice on Mobile. Much nicer than VBulletin.

Another vote to keep Tapatalk! Makes it a lot easier to post pics for me! Love the beta-testing link! And I can turn off the Tapatalk signature! I didn't realize it bothered people!

Daniel.

The most important thing to me is that all links and URLs work internally and through search engines.

I can live without Tapatalk support. I use browsers for the full desktop site all the time on all devices.

Tapa-what? :p

Good luck with the upgrade - from what I have seen of the test site, it is a giant step forward.

Thanks!

I sure hope this goes as planned, I'm not seeing any big problems with this platform though. I works just fine for me. If it aint broke don't fix it?

I'm kind of a sceptic I guess. I've seen at least two forums, completely DESTROYED after platform changes.

Fingers crossed and good luck. See you on the other side!!

Trust me, it's broke.

Well, fortunately we're retaining a backup of this current site in case XF fails terribly, and unlike some other sites we're not ditching previous posts and starting over from square one. This is going to be a fairly minor change from the end user perspective - it's still a forum, with all the old features (just with some new names) and some new features too.

While youre at it, how about finally adding a seperate sale folder for fixed knives and folders? Ive asked about this two years ago.. I have to sift thru 200 folders,(which I hate) till I find a fixed blade. Whats so hard about adding a seperate folder?>

That's what I like about Tapatalk - the time efficiency of being able to keep up with threads in several forums across a wide range of interests all at one place. I actually increased my use of this and a couple of other forums because of that. I also realized that I hadn't visited another forum for some time because of the 'outta sight, outta mind' aspect; they don't support Tapatalk.
