Wearing a knife at Blade?

Being from Texas I have been to a MILLION gunshows. One thing that always struck me as odd were all the guys wearing holstered guns in an open carry fashion. I originally thought this was because they were for sale and as that was the case a few times, most of the time it wasn't. When I asked why they were carrying the guns I never really got an answer, just an awkward look. So, it must be because they are trying to be cool? Well, at Texas gunshows, all firearms carried in or on display must be zip-tied through the ejection port and/or around the hammer, etc. It's hard to look cool carrying a giant stainless revolver with a big blue zip-tie running through it.

So I ask you, fellow knife people, why were so many of you wearing blades at the show? Did Beef really need a cross-draw with teeny blades? Did AZTim need the KZ decapitator strapped to his back? Did officer Allen (who I felt could kick my ass, but be nice about it) need the 3 foot Moab sheathed like Conan?

(This is totally for fun on a sarcastic level, BTW, I mean zero disrespect. I'll wear something next year :))

Cause this is America and we can!! :D :D

I thought Tim wearing the KZ was pretty classy :D

I worked gun shows for 8 years and carried my sidearm zip tied like those in Texas. Well, actually most of the time i left it in my bag behind my tables.

I think the main reason is to not leave it in the car.

I wore my B-10's to show off the "Sexy Lexi" sheath; the other was to keep my wife happy!:D:thumbup:

Carrying at the show is child's play lol. Show up to Fogos with your Uncle Mofo or Ak-47 (not mine but got to use it there) and then we'll talk :p

I believe the knives are worn to show loyalty to the brand(s) and the community. You may notice a t-shirt, but you darn tootin notice a couple 10" Res C handles or some beautiful satin INFI with blue and black G10, oh and that Killa Zilla cannot go unnoticed. There were others too.

For me, I have a more concealed mentality. One of my MBCs rides most everywhere with me, so it was out to play a couple times that weekend. Had to slice thru the huge chunks of broccoli at lunch, but more importantly...pair it with plastic utensils at the ID.

I thought Tim not only had a kz, but also a fbm and gladius on his personal for day 1? Way to represent Tim!

Nothing is more fun than a fellow knife addict asking what ya got there, and having a chance to show off one of your favorite blades. Great conversation starter.

Its even better when the knife they are carrying is rare or your grail knife.

I where a fixed blade from the time I get out of work M-f. And all weekend. I will where one to work when I get a Hack see I work at a college and we have a 2in knive rule at work. So as sone as I get on I will where it to work. I also carry a pocket knife use the both all the time. My wife and son ask me for my knife all the time. My wife will only use my fixed blade she has a thing about knives that close. Tomany closed on her hand.

I have a folder on me every day. At work home traveling. You never know when your going to need a good knife. I wear my knives every day, it just so happens some of those days fall on the same days blade show is held.
