Wearing a knife at Blade?

Sarcastic answer: Yup, I wore em for fun and to show off.
As busted by KAAK.

Real answer: The more people use their right to be armed (and all of the other rights too) the less people will try to take that right away. After all what good is freedom or a right if you don't make use of it? There are those with mindsets out there who would say if you don't use a right then you no longer need it. I gladly make use of my freedom/right to protect my family as it is my (not someone else's) full time responsibility as a husband & father. I use & wear mine all the time where I live.

I also wore mine to have them handy when people had questions about how well INFI holds up with use, or how you can carry something so heavy all day. They are the very same blades you see in some of the pictures here on this forum and more than a few people recognized them and talked with me about them. I paid a lot of money for these quality blades that more than live up to the "hype" and I am proud to carry them as proof that they aren't just for collecting or looking at. I don't even clean off my user INFI anymore since it doesn't rust and anyone who held the users that I brought can attest to that. There is still some dodge sheetmetal fused to the FBM LE which has never once been sharpened and still has no dents or dings in the edge. These are the blades I wore at the show, or at least the ones you could see. ;)

And here I thought you just wanted us to stare at your butt cause you been working out LMBO

Great post though. It's awesome we have such freedom and I know that LozDesign7 was pleasantly amazed at the freedom of carry and getting to see so many fellow knife nuts carrying their favorites around. Let's not give up anymore freedoms!

A gladius on the back and a couple of KZ's worn cross draw would look pretty wicked.

I've worn a MOAB to a gun show before just because....eh, I don't know why I wore the MOAB to a gun show. I guess to show it off but I probably looked like a fool.

But at least I looked like a fool with a really cool knife.

I never thought about going to the Blade Show to pick up chicks! ;) :D

Well, I always consider that place a "friend zone" :D but I swear, there were a couple of ladies (Not the professional Busse ladies) that kept eyeballin' me. I don't know if it was my charm or cause I was smiling like an idiot due to winning in the Hinderer lottery lol.

1. Beef's knives aren't tiny he is just that beefy. I have personally seen him away from BLADE carrying same.
2. Dock's MOAB was a retirement gift and he was showing it off.
3. AZTim likes big knives, so he wears em. I think his hands are like 9 inches wide too so they probably fit his hand the best.
4. As for me. I don't wear a fixed blade at home because it will cause more attention than i want in open carry and I am always carrying a gun and I only want to carry/conceal so much stuff. I carry one at BLADE because that shirt draws attention to me anyway and I want to represent and because it looks natural.

Interesting aspect of whether to wear a knife or not ... if I was to wear my favourites I would be all the more conscious that I might have enough knives already ...

Far easier to buy another when you have'nt got any on you ... :D

I open carry every chance i get, because that's how the world SHOULD be, and the rare occasions when reality lines up with the way thing ought to be, i'm taking advantage of it

whenever I have to go somewhere where I'm not supposed to wear a knife I try to get around it somehow, fixed blade pocket carry, strapped to my leg, whatever. The only time I really don't carry anything is while flying. A knife is a tool that is useful in nearly every potential situation where you are out in the world, and can be vital in hard times. I've never carried anything above 6" on my hip solely out of concern for social correctness. If I had the option, I'd probably end up with a slim 8" model like the dsf, as well as a thin slicer. You can just do more with the longer blade length.

this may sound dumb to some but, in a crowd situation where someone pulls a gun, a knife is a good weapon because it won't kill everyone behind the shooter. No, you don't want to step into a gun fight with a knife, but you also don't want to shoot bystanders.

I understand thne knives cause its a "Blade" show....but whats with the thigh holster? ;)

I have known people who, if socially allowed, would carry katana's on them at all times. Personally I'd go with a custom choiless dsf with a higher saber/thinner edge, but I get the desire for larger knives/edges. Blade is the one environment where you get to carry them in public (as apposed to camping) where it's socially acceptable or allowed. It's hard to carry a 20" overall length blade in a high ride hip sheath o_o

I wish I lived in a place when it was acceptable and almost required to open carry a nice BIG blade. I live in San Antonio, Texas, where a lockback is illegal to carry and there is absolutely no open carry of any kind. I carry my HK45 Compact since I have a CCW and now the Competition Jackhammer I got from 1whobuys. Its at the legal limit on blade length and mean as hell. I think I may carry one of my new Pork Shanks, but again, they all have to be concealed.

Thanks for all the answers and insight!!

If you are asking me, that pic with the thigh holster is at home, not the show. It was demonstrating how that carry method works for drawing the Zilla.

Having pretty much participated in a "Red Dawn" type event we perpetrated on another country, I learned just how easy freedom can disappear. Now, social conformity is very low on my priority list, especially if I have to sacrifice freedom to appease others, so I gladly opt to not live where it is an issue. Where I moved to specifically to be more free, I can wear pretty much whatever I want, however I want, whenever I want with the same commute to work I used to have in the big city. That is a very nice feeling after spending so many years living in the very same restrictive city conditions everyone else has described in this thread.

I hope you all keep in mind that none of you HAVE to remain restricted, if it matters enough you can always choose to relocate, or at least until you can't or it's too late to do so. ;)
