Wearing a large or long HI knife or sword

The clear stuff is a different brand of thermoplastic called Holstex, but it's basically the same as Kydex. Just brand names. I've heard the Holstex is supposed to be "more formable," or something like that, but I haven't noticed hardly any difference. The Holstex seems a little more prone to chipping around the egde, but I only say that because I bought b-stock that came with some chipped edges, I haven't experienced any chipping myself. So it seems to be as durable as the Kydex.

Kydex also comes in all sorts of colors and patterns, as I'm sure Holstex and the other plastics do. I personally like the black for my stuff, with little exception, but if you'd like me to do any custom sheath work, the color choice is all you. They make Kryptek camo Kydex, which I've been meaning to get for a while. That stuff looks cool.

Shoot me an email through the forum if you're interested!

Great thanks. Still debating what my first kukri should be. But I will definitely be interested in a molded sheath for it. I'm not into camo or black really.

I've found that while hiking, I simply don't need more than a 12" khuk. A 12" AK is perfect for my needs. I usually keep my camp blade, well, at camp:D
I don't get out and hump it like I did when I was in my 20's. Life is too demanding. However, if I were to backpack into a location, I would probably lash it to the side of my pack or strap it across the top.

Steely's got the voice of experience and wisdom speaking here. Man's a powerhouse and has arms like a gorilla, yet still sees the benefit of the 12in.

This is the value of HI.

Yes, someone that can hump concrete all day with a wheelbarrow, is not one to be trifling with.

What about a scout style setup? Anyone had any luck setting something up like this for one of the 12" range. Seems like a great out of the way setup for a hike or camp tool.

What would you call a scout style setup?

Scout style for lack of a better term is horizontal across the small of your back. After I posted I did some testing with my 18"AK & just curious with the smaller blades. Lends to an awkward up the small of the back & out draw. The more I am thinking out loud tho it does seem the more traditional "in the front sash" style draw may be the way to go.

How bout one of these? I have a Scout style Kydex loop I can attach to one of these to carry in a horizontal small of the back carry for right or left hand draw!

You can barely see the Tech lok on the inner side for vertical carry although I ordered a Kydex extension kit found on Bladeforums to add the versatility of a dangler or other attach

the top Kuk's are 21" OAL and 21" oal then get shorter to a 14" at bottom .
