Wearing the sheath

With the horizontal carry, it looks like you thread your belt through the twine, right?

I'm assuming you're asking me here, but yeah that's exactly how I do it. This belt is only 1 1/4" though.

Yes, thanks that's great.

I can see that working well for my izula ii for a horizontal carry on my lower back. My belts might be too thick to slide through the slot, though.

I have a lot of paracord (and duck tape) so I'll try my hand at rigging up some slings.

The only thing I don't really like about it is that looping the belt through the slot like that makes the knife kind of twist outward a little bit, and makes sliding it about on the belt a little harder. I don't mind that it twists the knife out a little though, I've actually found that kind of nice.

Everyone should check this out, I think it is awesome.

Thanks for the tek-lok advice. I got a couple of them and am waiting on a couple small sized ones that are holding up a HEST and Spyderco Diamond Rods and the 2nd Ultra Fine I need to complete my Sharpmaker set........I'm kinda agitated with knifecenter about it.

i like the blade-tech klips better than the tek-loks. they go on and come off a lot easier in my opinion. something to look at as most people don't know the BTK even exist.

I actually got one tek-lok and a couple of blade-teks. I didn't know BTK meant blade tek lock.....thanks for the information.

I"m going to try to put a BTK on the HEST as an EDC..........holy acronyms!

paracord loops for me, holds it close, and i know it's not goin anywhere....ever.

I carry my Izula in a horizontal sheath by MC Swinckels for edc around the farm.
It is easy to get hold of and replace.

For more discreet carry I use the original sheath plus parachord. This option holds the knife very close to the body.

Shirt untucked obviously!

how does this work out driving in a car with a seat belt on?

I usually use paracord secured with a cord lock for my HEST and 3 for on belt carry. Sometimes I just put the entire knife with sheath into the right side pocket of my "carpenter" style pants.

Does that Izula sheath swivel if you want to wear it horizontal to the belt? Thanks

i also wear 1.5" gun belts because I always carry my g19 on me. the stock boot clip does not fit over it because of its thickness. i am a pretty scrawny guy and found that horizontal carry, even with the izula, wasn't very concealable with practical placement on my wasteline. the izula will fit comfortably in your pocket while sheathed, but i like having one handed access to a knife so i opt for belt carry even with such a small knife. i took everyone's advice here in the esee forum and picked up a couple blade-tech klips from knifecenter. this is the best carry method for my needs that i've found for my izula and 3mil so far, and it doesn't interfere with drawing of my firearm. just got an esee-5 in the mail today so i'll have to play around with that one now.

JBarbaresi...... this works out fine with a seatbelt, I just place it below the sheath and occasionally above....depending on clothes or vehicle

I horizontal carry my hest and izzy, With my 5 i just use the kydex clip that came with it, but i want to upgrade to a molle sheath.

what do you mean by swivel? its fastened to the blade-tech klip with 2 screws so once you tighten it there is no movement. you can fasten it to the clip so that the sheath is mostly horizontal with a slight cant up or down if that's what you're asking, but again it doesn't move once you've tightened the screws.

note: with the izula sheath and BTK you need to pick up two 8/32 thread screws at 3/4in length because the supplied 1/2in screws are not long enough (any home depot or lowe's will have them for about $.50). the supplied screws work fine with my 3mil sheath.

cool, that was the one thing i didn't like about mounting the sheath horizontal along the front. i found it uncomfortable while driving/sitting. glad it works for you though because that would have been my preferred carry method since wearing the sheath vertical on my side interferes with wearing my OWB holster.
