Two of the Web specials that I ordered came today and I'm pretty impressed. I got the 118 Palmwood and the 112 with buffalo horn, cocobola and the chipped flint blade.

I'm glad to know about the web specials page, because the 112 was only $60 there and one just hit the bay with a starting bid of $149.99 and a BIN of $199.99! I'm going to watch that one and if it sells for that, I'm gonna buy all that Buck has left!

Surprisingly, the chipped flint blade is almost sharp enough to cut something with.

My Cherrywood Vantages should be here tomorrow but I think I'll save the pictures for Sundays Picture Show.

That was quick Dave! I can't believe your going to make us wait until sunday! :D Not even a blurry teaser? LOL

That 112 is a gorgeous knife, according to the bay pics!!!

Well, you snooze, you lose. I just went back to order a couple more of them and they are gone. Watch the bay now for them at vastly inflated prices!

After seeing 300's post and pictures of the single blade 301's, I went ahead and ordered one of each (and another Palmwood 118) since the 112's are gone.

That looks nice. I got the two Alpha Hunter's on the Buck Web Special page. By far the mirror finish one is the best looking. I have an Alpha Dorado with rosewood scales as my EDC knife and love it.

LLBean has a very nice custom Alpha Dorado with elk horn scales and CM154 steel blade. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/48291?from=SR&feat=sr

Thanks bigredd, I'd never visited their web site before. I found the stacked leather Pathfinder and Woodsman fixed blades and had to order one of each of them. You may want to edit out the link in your post before a mod gets you for deal spotting though.

I'm glad you got atleast one of those 112's . Those knives sound nice . DM

Thanks David, they are nice and the 112 has the special BCCI tang stamp on the blade. That is sure to cause some confusion in the future!

I suppose you could say this whole thread is about deal spotting!!

While that may seem to be the case, I've never seen a mod get his panties in a bunch when there is posting about knives on the Buck website. They are after all, a sponser of the forum and there is even a permanent link to the Buck site at the top.

The mods do get uptight when links are posted about other dealers. Just thought I'd give you a hint.

I thought that might happen. When I saw that the price dropped to $60, I thought I should order one now. It sounds nice, I am hoping I will get mine before Sunday, if not I will be looking at your pictures of the 112.

I finally gave in and got the yellow 301 and Vantage. Really looking forward to a yellow Buck and the single blade made the deal for me.

I ordered one of each of the 301's this morning but when I got the confirmation, it seems I ordered two of the Dymondwood and one each of the other three. I must have clicked twice on the "add to cart" button and didn't notice. It wouldn't have been the one I'd have ordered two of but it's OK. I'm sure I can find someone to give it to.

i ordered that 112 my self belive it or not
made a direct call to a contact and she pulled mine
then i wanted a 2ed and she went back two hr later and all gone
note i think she said that only 30 ( or 30 left that morn) some were made
very few at any rate)

kind of a build out thing maybe?

Yeah, I am wondering where that 112 came from, I hadn't seen it in any catalog or on any stores, both in person or on the web. I guess the Cherrywood Vantage is also one that came out of no where.

It is neat they have them and offer them up to us Buck nuts.

Mine came today and I got it after work. I don't have a picture yet, but I will try tomorrow. First off, let me give you my impression. It is a really nice knife, you can't tell from the pictures, but the original $160 was to me worth the price. It came with a black leather sheath, it didn't say it came with a sheath on-line. The nickel silver bolsters really set it off. Also, the sides of the knife are slimmer. With the blade folded, the blade is more exposed that a normal 112. I looked at the writing on the blade, I thought it said "3001, USA, BUT upon further inspection, it says "BCCI, USA". So this was a club knife of some sort. I have to go back and look at our news letter to see when we tried to sell it. One last thing, the blade is darker than I thought, it gives that look of being made out of stone, chipped by Native Americans.

The overall look of the knife is very pleasing and beautiful. The gigged buffalo highlighted by wood is outstanding. If I had seen this at the BCCI meeting last month I would of bought it for $160. I am super glad I got it. Now, if I can only cut back buying knives for awhile, heck I said that after the SMKW meeting last month....

They are marked "buildout" and it was my understanding that they used blades left over from a BCCI offering to build them. I don't remember seeing this one offered to Club members, but I could have a faulty memory.

I don't remember the year without going back and checking my newsletters, but I think it was a BCCI knife from two (or maybe three) years back. It had the black chipped flint blade that was used here on this model, and smooth black water buffalo handles without a rear bolster. A 110 just like it was offered the year previous.

Just found this one in the Dec. 2007 newsletter. It may be the source of the blades in the new ones.

Yours must be different than the one I got if that's the case. I just set mine on top of four different 112's and the width of the sides is indentical on all of them. The chipped flint blade is just a tad wider though.

Plumb,

When your 301/302s pick out the best Dymondwood and sell the other one above....I bet we have talked it up so much it will sell quick. I don't how many are left but I like the Yellow and the Dymondwood best. Wait till you see the high gloss scale job on the DW.....Someone wanted a blue scale one over in the other thread, I will see if I can fool with photo and make a yellow , blue.....
Wish I had gotten a 112 now......looking forward to photos...
