Website Logo Opinions Please

Mark,
Complete stranger $0.02, I like number 3 the best. Using number 3, I would not take out the "by" it flows with the rest of the logo well, using one of the other ones, I probably would take it out. I really like the line in 3, it helps balance the overall look and helps draws your eye to the center of the logo, otherwise as Count said the W would. You may want to bold the line just a touch if the W is pulling more attention though.
Also, I really like the ghosting of your mark from number 4, but as another idea, you could always put that as a ghosted background on your entire site page, much larger obviously. And if you made the background not scroll so that you are using only one frame, the text would scroll in front of it, your ghosted mark would always show through on the screen.
Obviously my own opinions.

#3.....It is crisp, clear, and all information is absorbed in a glance.

If one has to examine a logo more than a second or two to decipher it, they will just not bother.

3 for me. I like the outfitter being lower since it explains who you are an flows better.

Here is #3 with a few tweeks... keep in mind, this is just grey scale. We haven't finalized colour, if any.

Hey Rick,

I'm not sure why, but when I click on any of your photos on your webpage they won't come up. Well the page comes up with the title and description of the knife, but the photo doesn't show; just a perpetually rotating timer circle as if it's loading, but it never does. Does it work for all the rest of you guys?

Aloha, Phil

Nope, working for me. But of course it could just be that it takes a long times for thing to reach you out there Phil. ;)

As others have said, the last logo is perfect I think.

Now can you do mine? ;)

We know your Name is "Marchand" and we know that fancy "M" is part of your logo. But for the masses who do not know who you are it looks like your name is "Rick archand" with a mountain in between.

I think you nailed it with the modified #3... and the stylized "M" in Marchand looks great.

Is there some way to put Bladesmith, or knifemaker, etc., in there. For instance-Blade Smith/Artisian/Outfitter. I don't know you outside this forum, but I'm assuming one of the principal things you are best known for is your knives, so why downplay it? Just a thought..

My website is under construction.... thanks for reminding me to put up a notice!

Get the grammar right on your construction notice dude. We wouldn't want anyone thinking you were a dumb cancuck for the wrong reason! :D

"...for the wrong reason!" Harsh - but still funny. Rick, I am laughing WITH you on this issue.

I think you nailed it with your updates on #3. Clean, clear and balanced to my eye (the one without the patch). Could have some serious longevity as is.

Good job guy.

Andy

Same here. That would look great on a coyote brown t-shirt. Perhaps a small version on the left chest, and full size across the back. I wear XXL or I can squeeze into an XL if you don't mind a little belly showing. You need my address? :D

I has to thank Phil for hims correcting my grammer. Thank goodness my speeling is perfek.

2 or 4.....reason being that it may not be obvious enough that the character is a W?....between 2 and 4, I like 4 better with the grey character in the background

I think your name should be the predominant and most bold character of the logo.
You want people to identify with YOU!!!
Who is "Wildertools"? Some guy named Wilder?
Seems to me that all of those logos give primary importance to WilderTools and Artisan Outfitter over Rick Marchand.
They can all three be there, but I think you should give your name some more focus.
