Weekend assignment: POST YOUR TRAPS

I was sitting out in the backyard with my wife having a glass of wine, enjoying the sunny afternoon after all the rain, and thought to myself why not try to make one of those split stick traps. I got my SAK Farmer and my JK Extra Long Kephart and went to work. I drove the Kephart point first into the stick to get it to split. I then used the SAK to saw at each end of the split to form the hinge. I squared up the hinge side and back with the JK and notched the trigger stick with the JK and voila all done. Took about 15 minutes to get back to my wine.

Great job folks and thanks for all the contributions. Fonly - those pictures were a first rate tutorial for a fig-4. Now I gotta try my hand at one of them again. I did a split stick trigger this morning.

pss - that moron trap would probably cause a self inflicted injury for me. Sooner or later, I'd forget it was a trap :D

You shouldve seen me trying to set it and get a picture of it without violating about 14 firearm saftey rules!:D:foot::D

My first figure 4. Had to use a pretty crappy log for a deadfall, but it proved to be functional and it was pretty easy to make. Need to do some more traps, these things are fun. Also need to try making a split stick again, my last attempt wasn't that great.

Got out today for a couple hours, decided to make another trap. This one wasn't so good, I was paying too much attention to the beavers splashing around in the creek. Got out the Pathfinder for some action today. I also found some amazing bait laying around out there.

Quick glamour shot of the Pathfinder.
