Were you able to ID the snakeskin?

Those are some huge hoppers, I wonder what the hell the Mantises look like down there. :D

I know you guys had to be suffering from the heat. I did an overnighter at Pedernales Falls about a week ago and sweat out gallons on the hike in. But I slept okay in my hammock while the other guys sweat all night in their tents. :D Looks like you guys had a good time. How far was the hike in?

this was a scout trip for the fall ESEE campout, right?
that looks like a great place whether it's "the spot" or not!
congrats!

How far was the hike in?

About 9 feet from the truck to camp.:D

We drove in down to the lake with the intention of hiking in but there was a great spot right at the end of the road and with the temps, carrying all that crap was not exactly tempting.

After we got back to the Shotgunner shack I showered (in boiling water), dressed and off we went to a party for my chillin's. What an amazingly stark contrast.... We made Cricket go with us to torture him.

It was a great weekend. Good friends, terrible food, nature, staggering heat and a party at the end!

Great job guys. I know it was hot. I went to the Ice cream festival in Austin this weekend on Saturday.Hot..Did I say it was hot. 106...
Tony D. I was hopping that there was more RC-3 pix's but it was hot.

Looks like you all had a great time.
Thanks
Hawkeye

I carried my lite machete & ESEE3MILCP and SAK Rucksack... starting a fire was tough due to the humidity, man I was sweating all over my tinder took me about 15 minutes to get a good solid fire going....

Those Grasshoppers were monster size, and was not scared of anything ,I placed them on my Machete and they hung out at the camp site for a while before I put them in a tree.

Shotty provided a pic on the 'hopper I was holding...
I was also playing with very large Black ants ,letting them bite me and I'd pull off their stingers and the lock on and not let go...Improvised stitches I guess LOL

That's a whole lot better than the THREE MILE hike we did in full packs. We nicknamed it the Central Texas Death March.

Those are some big ole grasshoppers. Did you eat any or did you just have the MRE in the pic?

I'm glad you boys had fun!

David i'm sorry. It wasn't me that posted the pic. I kept my promise. Thanks again for bringing the Mr home and helping w/ the kids. No way I could have done that with all of them by myself
