I was just wondering if anyone had any weird or funny habits surrounding knives they would share. I dont know if this is common but I keep a lint roller on my kitchen countertop. When getting dressed I turn my carry pocket inside out and lint roll the interior. It's just become part of my daily routine. I usually get 3 days per sheet so a single roller last a long time. Anyone else do this or care to share something different?

The weirdest thing I have with knives is surely my obsession about carrying one :)

Beside the fact is really like to carry an edc that is not much.
Maybe something related to testing my knives my left force arm hair after sharpening them... if i had to sharpen many knives in the same week I may have my inner forearm completely shaved :)

I have a weird habit of wanting 2 or 3 backups of my favorite knives.
Same here, man. Whenever I find "the one" I end up having to get a duplicate safe queen no matter how expensive it was. I don't know why. I do it with lots of things but never in my life have I ever actually ended up needing the backup. Guess it just makes me feel more comfortable about carrying and using it without worrying so much about what could happen to it.

This actually made me laugh because I've done the same thing.........and never needed the backup. What's wrong with us lol......

I always turn my blades outward to wipe them clean. A few days ago I did so again and inadvertently pressed the sponge too tightly toward the edge. When I looked there was a cut nearly all the way through the sponge. Could have been my hand. It was from a Laconico Keen I just got back from Josh at REK.

I do follow the “take a coin as payment while giving someone a knife as a gift” custom. It’s known and followed both in my country and the country of my wife, so I decided to follow it for fun.

Googling this one.......now I have to know how this tradition got started.

I have this habit of getting really excited about a knife, researching it, price shopping for it, and then finally getting it... and never carrying it. I have a 4V Manix sitting in a dresser-top organizer that I 100% intended to make my primary EDC but my current hangup is that I’m worried about the non-stainless steel corroding even though I’ve already put a precautionary layer of marine tuff-glide on literally every metal surface.

I also have a Spyderco Vallotton that is always just a little too nice for me to feel comfortable carrying.

It’s a curse.

Weird overkill knife habit:

Clipped folder to right pocket. Traditional in slip in left. Machete, chopper, fillet, Mora, and field sharpener in each vehicle. “Man purse” pack with scissors, small fixed blade, another Mora, a small filet knife, two leathermans, two DiaFolds and a SAK carried along with me as I move from vehicle to vehicle.

All while periodically checking BladeForums multiple times a day.

I will sometimes take a Sharpie and draw a new profile on the blade to see if there is a shape in there that appeals to me more. I can almost hear the poor little thing saying, "Nooooo, I don't WANT to be a wharncliffe!" If it looks good, then it is off to the workshop.
