Weird situation - knife is delivered by tracking but actually not

i had this happen a month or 2 ago ago by usps. showed delivered but i was out in my front yard working and saw the driver and they stuck the normal junk mail in my box and no packages. so i emailed the vendor who opened a claim. usps opened an investigation...

long story short the vendor resent the packages to me. two weeks or so after i got the resent packages......what shows under my mailbox, but the original packages that were never delivered. so i emailed the vendor and shipped them back to them.

whenever you have humans involved you can bet something can or will get messed up. no matter how dummy proof the system is built. i trust usps as much as i trust fedex and ups. i've had bad from all and consistently i've had worst from usps. seems they never fire anyone. they just transfer them. cause all the worst ones get stuck on my delivery. drunks, insane, thieves, ones that refuse to deliver the mail on saturdays. you name it, i've seen them all......

Sometimes the driver scans it in the truck, and then forgets to actually deliver it to the house. Especially if multiple packages are involved. They grab two out of the three. I would not be surprised if they deliver the package later today.

I was expecting a package from USPS once. I happened to have the day off and checked the tracking info. It said the package was out for delivery. Well, I happened to be outside with my dog when the mail arrived. The guy handed me a few envelopes, but no package. I said, "hey wait a minute. The tracking info said I had a package out for delivery." The guy says, Oh ya, it's in the truck." Then he went to get it. It was a Mammoth ivory Sebenza with a Damascus blade. I was a bit upset.

This happened to me a couple of months ago except it was a watch strap. USPS said it was delivered but I never received a package. I figured it was just USPS messing up and lo and behold, I received my strap the next day.

I've experienced a variety of non-delivery situations. The most common is when tracking shows delivery yet not delivered then shows up the next day or a neighbor calls to tell me they have my package. I have received notices on my door to pick up a package at the post office or at FedEx and then when I get there they can't find the package.

I had a USPS package in which the very first scan was "Delivered". The clerk at the origin Post Office incorrectly scanned it as "Delivered" instead of "Accepted". It was shipping from Omaha, Nebraska and the very first scan was Delivered in Omaha, Nebraska.

I had UPS deliver a gun to the wrong address once. It was years ago. I found the gun at the back door of a neighbors house. Still sealed in the box. I never trust UPS anymore. Don't trust FedEx or the USPS either.

Just curious, who DO you use for package shipping?

I once ordered a Gransfors Bruks small forest axe from a seller on a big online retail site that was shipped Fed Ex. Day of delivery, Fed Ex guy shows up and hands me the package. I go inside with it and there is a big gaping hole on one side. Open it up, and nothing but the receipt and packing materials.

Went round and round with both Fed Ex (who said it was weighed every step of the way), and the 3rd party seller without being taken care of - both thought I had received it and was lying I guess. Finally called the big online site I purchased from and they sent me out a new one right away. Funny thing is although both the seller and Fed Ex were suppose to get back to me, neither ever has. Im guessing someone at Fed Ex got themselves a nice gift that day.

I know your post says small forest axe and I have no idea what axe you got but you couldnt tell right away when he handed you the box it was empty?...seems even a small axe would weigh enough to notice when handed the box.

The tricky part with eBay is that if tracking shows delivered, you can't claim you didn't get the package. That's what happened to me, luckily it was just a TAD iComm pouch, but eBay said there was nothing they could do, it said it was delivered.

I've had it happen twice. Once was a new G10 Delica and the other time a watch strap. Both times the vendors sent out replacements without question. Lucky for me.

So has it arrived yet?

No! FedEx called me next day, asked some more info, then called me again in 3 days, said they couldn't locate the package and I have to request refund from seller and they will provide him insurance or compensation, I do not know about details. So I got a refund and that's all. Too sad, because it was nice Spyderco sprint run knife, not expensive, but now times there are not many of them in new condition.
