weird things you found in the forest?

I found a Browning A-Bolt rifle leaning against a tree - rusted up somewhat but the scope was perfect. Also found a hatchet stuck in a tree.

Things I have found in the woods....

Boilers from mining operations from the early 1900's along with carbide lamps and other tools.
Rail road rails, spikes, and ties from many years ago; O gauge I believe (more narrow than current tracks).
Knives, a gun once, meth lab debris, old stills, arrow heads and other Indian tools.

The woods can be an interesting place if you keep your eyes open and explore.

Weirdest has to be baby doll's head - the old school kind that open and close their eyes when you move them. No hair, no body - just the bald head. Freaky looking thing.

One of these... most of the parts are missing along with the wheels but the front axle is still there burried in the mud. It's along a creek bed at the cascades in VA. They have a small sign saying it was a saw mill (could have possibly powered one) but its WAY out in the boonies.

Here it is!

Dirt bike riding outside of Big Bend kind of near Terlingua and found a ghost town/mine in the mountains. Dirt and mountain bike riding around San Antonio saw a stolen car, pile of broken bicycles, someone's plant stash in the middle of no where. But by far the creepiest was while mountain bike riding near an area called Crown Ridge. A couple friends and I found a star shape outline on the ground made from candle wax with a ton of candles around it, there was a pile of cloths in the middle and it stunk. We took off very quickly.

I've came across stashed Pot plants in buckets & I've came across them already in the ground ! I also found a VW min bus in the middle of nowhere on the mountian side !

Buddy and I were hiking and I fell into some wierdos stash guns knives and marijuana plants everywhere. We took off and never went back

Best thing I've found, is an old copper lantern, sans any glass or wick, but the reservoir and handle was still there. It was zinc'ed over real bad.

Found it on a manway here in the Smokies.

while on a 40 mile dirt bike ride right off the back side of my buddies property i almost fell after nailing a cinderblock...on the ride home i realized it was not a cinderblock. it was a lock box. after bringing it home and giving it a nice one-two with the BFH she opened up. it contained some cash along with illegal substances.

Also in those same woods i found a brand new honda generator.

Back in the early 70's on a creek that feeds into the Brazos River in rural Stephens County Tx. Found what was left of an old single shot shotgun grown into the crotch of an oak tree. Wooden stock and fore end rotted. Would have taken a chainsaw to get it out. We figured it was a poachers gun trap/snare that someone forgot or couldn't find again. It's probably still there.--KV

I was in the far north and an Indian kid put a Teletubby stuffed toy in a tree and shot it to hell with a .22. What I have come across many times on the outskirts of towns are used condoms and needles. Hazardous, disgusting and always lousy to see.

Hammer heads, some with a little wood left on them some without, none that looked old enough to be valuable. Last year hiking in the Devil's Den National Forest my 8 yr old and I found probably 1000 empty .45 brass at a spot I love to camp. She found a pretty new Stanley knife with one folding blade and changeable razor blades, on a different hike a couple of weeks later. I have also found geocaches by marking the coordinates on a map at home. I do not have the cash for a GPS and thought it was pretty cool to find these with a map and compass.

Were they in usable condition, and if so did you keep them? Those would have been worth a bit to someone who reloads their own ammo...

Up in the woods of NEPA I hiked out to a spot off one of the Fire Trails and found something similar to this, (not my pic but ya get the idea).

Stairs to nowhere...
