Welding a threaded rod to a blade

I guess if I was cut this blade down so you had enough inside the handle I would lean towards a thicker tapered tang in 1.5" length, versus a thin stick version. Im no artist with drawing but you get the idea....Then do your keyhole and attach your threaded rod. Just my 2 cents on it. -Larry

That makes sense. I can do that, but it won't all be flat. Some of it will come from the bevel. The rod won't be allthread, it will be 1/4" cold rolled. If I make the tang 2", I will still have a 9" blade(with room for 1 regrind of the point).

Thanks for the help, guys. Hopefully I will be able to salvage this blade. Otherwise I will have to use some thicker s30v(I'm surprised no one has said that 1/8" 1075 is too thin for such a long knife).
