Well, I passed the JS peformance test.

Phill

Are you presenting at Atlanta this year or are you aiming for next? People testing in Atlanta can get a half a table at a discount price, and they will always make a table available for those testing.

Oh yea, congratulation! You have taken the first step, now the fun begins.

Congratulations Philip. One step closer now just need to test. I will need to retest for my MS now that it will be over 3 years when I plan to present in 2009. Your stuff looks good enough now. Go for it.

Awesome! Way to go! Love that you went even thicker on the rope!:thumbup::thumbup:

Congrats. Cut it kinda tight, didn't you, what with Blade in less than a month? lol. It's funny that you tested with the man who is probably the single biggest iconoclast in the metal pounding biz when it comes to edge quenched, bendable blades. When you had passed, did he say something like "Congratulations........now NEVER make another knife like this as long as you live"?:D

No he didn't say that, probably because he knows I already know that. :p :)

The plan is to present this year, but in a way I'd feel better waiting until next year. I already have a half table reserved, and I'm on the list for next year to get a full table.

Thanks again all!

I forgot to mention that the first time I tried to cut the rope, I didn't get all the way through. Not quite enough velocity... I tried again in a different spot and did it.

*&$$%@! It seems every picture taken of me anymore shows that shiney spot forming on the top of my head all the more:(. Phillip did great! His knives have looked really good for some time so I knew I wouldn't have to spend too long pick at them in inspection. Obviously I have seen my share of blades bent for that test, I cannot explain it but I can often get a gut feeling about whether 90 Degrees is going easily happen by the way the blade moves in the first 10 or 20 degrees. Heck it may even be something I am seeing in the arms of the applicant due to his confidence. In any case Phillips knife went over so smoothly and confidently that I knew he was fine with the test. Yes I would like to see all his future knives fight such an action to the death, but this one certainly didn't fold over like putty either.
I sent him on his way with word of encouragement, I let him know that no matter how nervous he was today, it was nothing compared to the agony he will experience while waiting on the Galleria mezzanine in three and a half weeks;) But when the doors finally open I have a feeling he will be collecting his knives as a Journeyman.

Congratulations and thanks for posting the pictures.

The knives you have posted over time look excellent.

Peter

Congrats Phillip! If you dont mind whats the specs on the knife you used for the test?
Good luck in Atlanta. Not that luck has much to do with it. Are you going to show us what your taking before hand? I think you will do fine.
