Well, I'm an idiot. (Warning, mild gore.)

It happens to all of us Nate. You play with sharp things enough, you're gonna get cut. When I get bit, it's usually while doing something to the knife. Sharpening, stripping, etc. Never when I'm just using it.

Ya know, I got many good scars as an child, but only a couple as an adult, it's a gift!

Jsnell, me too. I've had plenty of lIttle nicks, but always pretty trivial until now.

In the meantime, being basically down a thumb really sucks lol, important digit, even on your off hand. Hopefully it will be more useable in a few days.

(Rob's pic is scary but i'm pretty sure it's old, glad he's okay!)

All good fellas. Did this a little while back. I was clearing some weeds/vines/scrub down the back of my place with the 1311. My right hand was getting a little fatigued and I stupidly swapped hands for a moment. The knife glanced off something and hit me straight in the arm at an angle, filleting me beautifully. I felt that hot sting when the edge bit and I immediately had visions of seeing fountains of blood coming out of my arm. Thank goodness that wasn't the case!

Just remember, folks...

"Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory...lasts forever." ;)

Oh! And... "Clear." :D
:)

I don't have any pictures but what i keep referring to is the time I lost a finger print to a bench grinder. I was grinding on a knife, I heard a noise behind me, I stuck my right hand into the rough wheel. I chucked the knife, screamed, ran inside and I'm iffy on my own blood, i dont care if ts not my blood, anyway, then I nearly collapsed on the kitchen floor. It felt about 100 times worse then skinning your knee, so burning, bleeding, throbbing, all that good stuff. road rash (which is what EMT's call being grated by pavement) reaches a certain point where it's treated like a burn, obviously, my "incident" was at that point. Anyway, all-in-all i ended up with a partial print on my right ring and a flat spot on my middle fingers last joint.

Yee-ouch!!, I bet that stung!

Not quite on the same level, but years ago I worked for a company that did a lot of patios and sidewalks made of brick pavers. The patio designs were typically circular and the walkways had a lot of curves and flares, so there was a lot brick cutting to be done.

I quickly emerged as the best man on the diamond saw, partly because I was willing to hold small pieces under the saw with my bare hands in order to get the most precise cuts. (This wasn't a high tech outfit lol, they just used a basic wood chop-saw fitted with a diamond blade, slapped on top of a rickety collapsable work bench.) Anyway, it was always fun getting little nicks and "love bites" from a diamond blade spinning at ~4,000 rpm.

Luckily they were all fairly minor. They also never bled or anything since the blade basically cauterized the wound as it cut.

'Tis but a flesh wound, get back to work kid!! :D

Nice. Good to see the knife is OK. You could have dropped it on a hard surface and then have to re-sharpen it, one handed. It could have been a real headache. :-)
Be careful wiping. We all know THAT is the hand you use.:-)

Uhhh, I'm hesistant to take the bait on this one and I'll plead the fifth personally, but I'd imagine most people in the developed world, with you know soap, hot water, and crucially, tp, most people use their dominant hand?

Absolutely, I was just being silly. I love knives but deep wounds like that can be trouble in humid environments. MECR is no laughing matter.Cheers :-)

Lol, we're good. I'd never really considered that question before though...

No kidding on the humidity. My grass is getting really long. I might be able to technically manage mowing with the injury, but then I start thinking about the heat, sweat, etc... and keep pushing it off.

Or maybe I could just pay the shamwow guy to cut my grass lol:
