Well...It's Friday...

Son of a nutcracker there are too many that I want. Should not have even looked!

Beautiful Lonestar and Asp, both in 3/32. Not sure I've seen a 3/32 Asp before but I love the 1/8 TT Asp that I somewhat recently picked up.

2 tangerines with my preferred black and white, also both in 3/32. The KPH in 3/32 is making me squirm because I've been watching for one but they've all been 5/32 and i figured I might jump on a 1/8" if it came up and here's one even thinner.

That dog tag is pretty cool.

I'm done commenting ...

All that and no mention of a Bog Oak Bushboot. 😊

Pictures are up; another collision of disappointment and relief....

It wasn't meant to be! I doubt I'm the only one who peeks on the Friday doings with great anticipation (such surprises, these), is disappointed when nothing in the wondrous array quiiiiite hits the spot, then settles into relief at being spared the stress of the fray...?

This time.

I had thought about my response and did not think that it communicated my feelings well. Suffice to say I know the feeling and my reply was not meant as a rebuttal :)

I was thinking that as a knifemaker it must be difficult to hit that sweet spot for everyone, and then to have to repeat it in slightly different ways to keep us interested. That is indeed a harsh reality when the work comes close, but not close enough. Fortunately, the grinder is waiting for a new week.

Ah-- thanks for clarifying! I wasn't sure what to make of your post, so decided to err on the side of (over)emphasizing that I wasn't disrespecting the Fiddleback goodnesses.

Absolutely. With so many possible variables in pattern + steel stock + appointments, let alone the individual character of each piece (even with the same specs), I don't know how anyone can know what to expect, week to week. Especially when it's the Surprise combos that can recalibrate one's Wanter, fast!

That's what makes the Friday Reveal fun, painful, and hurt so good. :D

I love the variety of the offerings, how there's a little something for everyone-- even if it takes weeks to pan out.

It's also helpful that we all do not share the same targets. I'm one less guppy with Shark Dreams of bog oak and osage, for example. :o

T'anks again.

speaking of Knives 17

we just got a couple issues of Knives Illustrated Buyers Guide 2017. We have 5 or 6 knives in that magazine!!!

Pretty Happy about that.

Remember, I actually found Fiddleback Forge from one of these magazines. Ya'll had an add in "Knives" for a production model. Saw it while paging through the mag section as my kids argued over which cereal to buy.

Never did buy that production blade. Seem to have picked up a few others though...

I'm totally bummed. I flew back to Virginia on Wednesday to get the little car that was in storage filled with all out stuff that the movers would not move because it might go boom or make a big mess (ammo I get, fire extinguishers, who knew) and the only thing we've not been able to find in the 26 thousand pounds of crap we have accumulated in the 21 years of marriage is my little bubble wrapped roll of runts, stubbies, and other small knives. I think about 16 in all. There is still some hiding places since my mother in law has not unpacked her stuff yet (she returns from the Phillipines in April), so there is still hope, but crapola, I so wanted them to be in the car. Which reminds me that I need to check inside some of the other things, like crock pot boxes that might be holding the little rascals.

BTW, driving cross country at 45 is vastly different than doing it a 25 or even 35. After a 900 mile day yesterday cramped in a loaded up Mazda 3 with 118K miles on the clock, I'm beat up and it hurts to move.

Thanks for listening!

Swo...I'm not that far if you are anywhere near southern Virginia. Seriously. Shoot me a PM or email, and I'll give you my info. You can come crash here - I'll feed you, set you by the fire with the remote control, and head back into the woods to try to kill something that has antlers on it.

I'm so sorry to hear you can't find that roll. Definitely look in the crock pots!

Thanks, I'm home in Kansas City now. It was awful this morning when my wife dropped me off at the airport to get her car which I left on Wednesday morning since my flight was so crazy early, but I digress. The car was covered in frost and ice at a chilly 15F and she didn't have a scraper since she usually parks in the garage. Sitting there waiting for it to warm up enough to melt the ice made this southern boy understand the concepts of remote start and those little 12V plug in dashboard mounted window defrosters that seem to be stocked prominently in all the walmarts around here. Suddenly it all made sense!

The bundle will show up, I'm pretty sure of that, it'll just take a while to have that AH-HA! moment.

When I lived in Helena Montana it was so brutal that we all had engine block heaters installed, or for those of us that couldn't afford that, we'd run an extension cord with a light bulb set-up and keep it burning under the hoods of our trucks. I'll never forget walking my dog down the sidewalk (that alone was tough because it would get so cold his paws would freeze to the pavement), and seeing extension cords running from every home and apartment, across the sidewalks and to the cars parked along the streets.

We would all actually leave our vehicles running when we'd go grocery shopping. It was pretty remarkable to pull into the store and see every single vehicle empty, and running, in the lots.

It was cold. Real cold.
