Well...It's Friday...

Thurin, You and your father are in my prayers! We will miss you swimming with the sharks!

Mist, I have a Bushcrafter I absolutely love and use... could never part with it, but she could come vacation at your house!
(Bushcrafter, OD on nat can no pinstripe, Sweetness, Tapered Tang, Convex on 1/8”)

Thanks man, and I may just take you up on that, but things would just go a lot smoother if I wasn't working with someone else's knife :D If it comes down to it, I'll just do this one as originally planned, and then acquire a Bushcrafter later and do another project with it. Not like I am out of ideas for material yet :)

I hope you're right - I've only got a couple more hours, then I won't have a computer all weekend.
Gotta see if my present is in there!

Hey guys. Just jumping in real quick to say thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Today was a long, hard day. First the waiting, and then the bad news that we didn't want to hear, but were kind of expecting. The stage III melanoma he's been clear of for the last 3 years has now popped up in his lung. They removed the mass and we'll be meeting with the oncologist next week to figure out the action plan. As my dad said right before he kicked us out of the room tonight so he could get some sleep "and so the fight continues."

You all are right, the time is priceless. I'm glad I am able to be here with Dad and Mom as we work through this.

I took a quick gander through today's FF. Good looking batch. Some good sharking going on. Congrats to the those that snagged them.

I've got another hour, but it's Friday over at Andy's.

I didn't get my birthday knife last week, and my annual bonus hits the 14th. So I think I'm due.
Can't wait to see what's in the batch!

Birthday and Bonus Day? We'll have to call this BB Day. The 14th is my anniversary. Which Fiddleback do you think I should get for my wife today? I should add that my wife is not cool like Midwest Chick, and has no interest in knives.

Thin Sapphire, Emerald or Doublemint Hiking Buddy. I would throw Ruby in there, too, but I want one for myself!

LOL, actually I will be out of pocket today (I think) as my wife is of the opinion that 33 years of marriage warrants my giving her some undivided attention. I will likely check in this evening to see the offerings, and to see if there is anything left floating on the surface for the vultures to pick at.

Well...I think I am just looking today...but if there is the right version of any of three particular models, and I am here to see it I'm in trouble. Because I am going to end up going into debt to a piece I am wanting to do before the snow and ice are all gone and it has to be put off for another year. Maybe I should just go play in the woods to try to avoid the stress of that :D

Heck Mist, I have no idea what it takes to market or sell a how to piece to your customer base, but I think that trying to sell a winter piece made in July might be tough. The green leaves and the rolled cotton is sure to be noticed. You better get out there, spring is a comin.

Hey Guys and Gals, if mistwalker bites and goes to the woods, that's one less shark!

Yeah, you're right. But fortunately...or unfortunately, depending on what I am talking about at the time :) we have had a record breaking winter up here, with snow falls and temps breaking records over 100 years old. We had a couple of warm days at the beginning of the week and lost down to just over a foot of snow still on the ground, but then got another five inches on Wednesday, and then cloudy Thursday with a morning temp of -5F. Partly cloudy today, and the snow in my back yard is still up to my knees in places. The stream on my land still has a lot of ice in it. If I got the knife soon enough, I'm pretty sure I could still manage a winter piece that looks like it was done in the winter :D

If I were choosing a knife for this for myself personally, I think I'd choose tapered 5/32 Kepart because I like points, but for the younger crowd I am writing for in this publication, and for Andy, I want to do it with a Bushcrafter...

Sooo...

If there is a nice synthetic handled (anything but red or maroon :) ) Bushcrafter in SFT 1/8 or tapered 5/32 would one of you be so kind to copy/past the below line in the thread for me if I'm not here at the time?

I'll take the Bushcrafter!!!

LMAO :)

You got it Mist, oh wait, I won't be here either. BTW, I just checked weatherchannel.com, and they are forecasting exceptional winter photography light from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM EDT for central Michigan.

Lol, yeah you're right. I don't think there is going to be a Bushcrafter in this batch from what Andy said last week, I haven't seen a tapered 5/32 Kephart in a while either, and damn, if the right KE Bushie showed up I'd just get trampled by willic if I got near it and thought about it :). I should probably just go do some photography for a few articles I am working on while the light is good for a change :D

Someone needs to distract willic from 2:00PM to 5:00PM EDT to give the rest of us a shot at a knife. ;)

Good luck sharks. I'm out again this week, but will hopefully be able to watch it go down.

Mist, I posted a tuxedo KE Bushie in the flea market yesterday if you are interested in that configuration.
