We are running a few Hackintoshes in my studio. For about $1200 worth of pc parts we have machines that are as good as a $6000 pimped out Mac tower. We have a guy that puts them together and puts the Mac OS on them for a minimal fee. It's been a lifesaver for our studio.

Yeah. You guys also running bootcamp for Windows-only applications?

I saw this thread and I just have to reply.. I am and have always been pure android. But I am just waiting for a few more items to sell on ebay and I will own a iPad 4. And I will be selling my Xoom. I pretty big change for me but I am excited.

My iPad is what sold me on apple, I absolutely love the it, pretty much could do all my business, all shipping and listings from it. Nice to have this big ol screen through , ha, I can see it !

I've been using Macs since about 1992, when I was an undergraduate. I've been running my business using Macs since we opened in 1996. For most of that time, I was using PowerBooks / MacBook Pros. I still have a PowerBook from 1999 that runs fine.

I think it's funny people feel they have to be one or the other.

Sort of like religion, political party, ammunition... :D

I've been running Mac at home since 1988. I've had Windows at work during the same time.

I know which is better for me; I use both a lot.

Apple is a genius at marketing "new" products with technology that's been invented years ago and charge several times more for it.

It's just a matter of time till the Apple trend has run it's course, and a generation of young people don't care if it has an i in front.

Simplicity/status for a price, what Apple has accomplished is amazing.

I've got a few Hackintoshes. I run Windows inside a Parallels virtual machine. But I have a 17" Mac Book Pro and a PC laptop as well and the Hackintoshes were more a do it to do it thing. I'm soley in charge of 2 Apple Xserves out of 7 in our organization. I also have 2 Debian Linux servers. We also have several Windows servers and I use the PC regularly for work to develop apps in Visual Studio but mostly for MS SQL management. I've been pushing to move everything to web apps so the client platform doesn't matter. Where I work is a mess though and I'm trying to find a new job before I have a melt down over the politics.

KAI-USA do you need any IT people?

No. Just running Mac applications. I don't have a single MS app on my machine. I learned on a Mac. PC's just drive me nuts. I'm not bashing them but UI isn't very intuitive for me.

I have a Nice Dell D630ATG just begging to have OSX on it. Gotta wait for my lady to come over with her macbook so I can make the usb boot drive for it. Everything else in my house runs Windows 7...figure if I put something different on the Dell, I might use it. I'll probably have to install a windows 7 virtual machine within it to actually get anything done though :P.

I have been running 13" macbook pros at home for awhile now. I am currently running the highest end 13" with 2 SSD's and maxed out ram. I couldn't be happier with the Mac hardware. Very reliable and holds a good resale value! I sold my last 3 year old macbook for $500.

I am going to be purchasing my first ipad in the near future and was thinking the mini due to the lower price tag on the lte model but the screen resolution lacking retina display has me worried as to just how bad it looks. I am having a lot of trouble deciding if getting the 4th generation ipad is worth it or not... some reviews say that the mini doesn't look that bad it just isn't that brilliant crisp display that retina gives, while others say its awful and you see pixels in everything you do. For the record I use apple for phone/music player and will use an ipad since I already have a small book collection from their store growing but when it comes to computers I build my own for the price of a nicer apple and mine blow them away. But then my uses for a computer are a little more demanding and the programs I use run much smoother on windows that mac OS.

I don't think the mini display will be as bad as you describe. It's got a great form factor since it's much lighter than a regular iPad and I heard typing is easier on it that the iPhone, Touch or full iPad. What sucks about the mini is that it's got iPad 2 internals in it (processor, etc). I guess we'll have to wait for the 2nd version to get better (comparable) specs to the regular iPad.

Yeah, my wife and I each have an iMac on our desks, and use a Mac Air Book when traveling. We switched about 2 years ago and have NO regrets :D

Well, not everyone can be right all the time :D

Nothing personal, this is one of my favorite pictures on the subject.

^^funny stuff^^

Apple hardware is good, but expensive. If the price is not an issue then it is a stable environment.
Just built a i5-3750 Z77 system for my parents for $500. Lots of computing power for little money. I have bought a couple of used IPODs, couldn't justify new IPOD prices. Now I just use my old Andriod phones on Wi-Fi only for same purpose, camera, pictures, music, apps.

I'm a geek. Ipad 3, Android phone, Windows laptop, and Ubuntu desktop all sitting here in front of me. I do like Mac for showing off photos and videos. Their displays are stunning, I'll give them that.

I own a PC and a Mac and I have the same opinion. My $700 Mac has a dual core processor running at 2.0 GHz. My $600 PC has a quad core processor running at 3.8GHz. I have a more appropriate comparison: My explanation would be that my PC is like a Spyderco Military, my Mac is like an Enlan. Someone mentioned Linux so to be complete here we have to say that Unix is like a knife you would buy at a gas station and its copy Linux is like a Pakistani copy of a cheap knife.

I have an ipad2 and I really like it. I don't see a problem with its non-retina screen resolution. I do like its size. I think the mini is too small for comfortable use but if a person needed to carry it in a purse or backpack then maybe the smaller one would make sense.
