The Youtube video unlocked the mystery (I know, bad pun). Never saw one close like that before.

I watched the video thinking there was something new and unusual here, turns out it is a standard frame lock. Your lockbar might have been what we call "sticky" and that's why you had trouble closing it.

Just a standard framelock to us, but new and unusual to one not familiar with them. The one in the vid is definitely sticky, as you can hear the clicks as he disengages it. It may be inherent to this particular knife, idk. Ought to smooth up over time, in any case.
