The khuk work I've done has been warranty work; I have an arrangement with Uncle Bill that makes us both happy (at least he hasn't complained to me about it.)
Several forumites have asked me to do customization for them. The economic realities are such that the disparity of "living wage" in Nepal and the U.S. is so great that a new khuk would cost less than a major customization like a new handle. Costs for attractive handle materials in this country have also skyrocketed.
Re-profiling an edge would be a few minutes' work on a belt grinder and buffer, but the shipping and insurance charges could cost close to $20 round trip.
I recommend that owners wait for Pen's CD and try putting on the convex edge themselves. A few programs on TV will provide background noise and make the time pass faster, but don't let your attention stray too much while working near a sharp edge.
If someone tries and for some reason just can't get a satisfactory edge, I'll be happy to help but would expect the customer to pay for the shipping in both directions.
My hat's off to Pen for his offer to help forumites with their Villagers; he's probably spending much more time than most folks realize.
The avatar he made for me still delights me and I haven't thanked him nearly enough for it.
And yes, I want to see his CD's too.
