(We're Back - Photos added) Off to the Green Knob, Middle Prong Wilderness Area Today

I had a blast. It was the first time we met in person besides chatting on Bladeforums and on the phone, and I felt like I Loved Tim my whole life. We are planning to go back up there and in further for an overnight stay. It's gorgeous country with a wide variety of terrain and plant/wildlife.

(fixed it for you)

well, personally, i think you make a very cute couple....:D

Nice pics guys, too bad about the hornets. I say that as I am laughing my ass off picturing the 2 of you!

The mountains down here are majestic and surprisingly huge.

Yep, good times, even the africanized killer bees or whatever they were. :) Always something to learn, like this time we learned neither one of us is prone to anaphylaxis. Next trip we'll explore a little further and hopefully stay out a day or two. Always good to get out and push yourself and learn new things.

me too! I imagine them screaming like little girls and waving their arms in the air, running in zigzag patterns all the while bumping into each other.

good times.

You know, it was pretty hilarious. Brian goes about 200-210 and had probably a 50lb pack. I kinda just bounced off as I tried to go over him. :D

Yeah, they were pretty tiny ground bees actually. But everything seems bigger when it's actually attacking you, dammit! :D

Even Mapper66! :D

Sounds like you had a great time

But Brian, why didn't you just slice those little bstards in half with your Barkie?

Looks like you guys had a good time.

I can't wait to get out in the woods soon.

next time, we're sending a film crew with you....just to document the tomfoolery...

I'm volunteering for the position...:D

Brett

I was trying to figure out why Brian was taking a picture of your rear-end, but then I noticed the pack...is that a Kifaru Scout? Looks like mine:thumbup: Looks like you guys had a blast!

ROCK6

You would've noticed the pack sooner if you weren't checking his rear-end out, Rock. :D

The WASP pack from OFAGEAR.com is a winner for me. Consistently comfortable. At one point I half-jogging fast, and jumping two or three feet down to keep going fast, and the straps and pack made it so I didn't feel the extra weight or off-balance. It's a great pack to wear when you need to move in a hurry.

Brian - I thought you were supposed to pull out your foxriver and slice 'em in two....

We're back. I'm gonna get something to eat that is NOT trail mix! Hiked with the WASP pack again and really love it.

In our efforts to push ourselves on the hike, at about 5800 ft elevation, we missed a hornets nest in the ground, and they came out and attacked us. They were extremely aggressive. Tim got two on the back of the neck and I got the outer edge of my ear pierced by one of those mean suckers. I wonder what two grown men must've looked like, hightailing it back down the trail for our very lives....:D

More soon and some pictures following.

So, You had two grown men with You? Not just two little girls running and swatting and getting their ears pierced?
Seriously, I am jealous. It sucks having to work while You are out there playing, I mean testing equiptment in order to make our lives easier.;)
Btw, I had some insect, probably a large moth but it could have been a pterodactyl come in my truck and I was swattin' and yellin' like a little girl.
Geez I'm glad nobody had a camera on me.

Thanks for the pics, reviews, humor and stories.
You get it. That's refreshing.

Nice area you guys look like you had a good day

I hiked a little chunk of the Appalachian Trail in north NJ today after camping at high point state park last night.

it was a really nice day for hiking

yep, moths can be ferocious!

Ask my wife to tell you the story about the little jumping spider that jumped on her. We were looking at this little spider that was on our deck. Amanda stuck her finger out just next to it. Ifyou've seen these little spiders, they're awfully cute. Well, this little guy jumped on her finger. As soon as he moved toward her, I jumped back and screamed like a bitch! The whole freaking neighborhood probably heard me.

My wife STILL tells that story. It's what prompted me to get a tarantula...:)
