Wetterlings

Wetterlings are my favorite axes. It's true, output quality control is not good as in GB and I recommend select your axe personally.

I use mainly thees 3 outdoor kits:

Custom knife with Lauri PTX blade and Wetterling LHA - Lauri PTX is zone tempered blade with a tempering line. Cutting edge - HRC 63, back of the blade: 53 HRC

Hultafors GK and Bahco Folding Saw - low cost but working set - GK is excellent cheap knife (carbon steel, 3mm thick blade, hidden tang is 8.5cm long)

But laste one is my favorit (custom Golok - i used it with SAK or leatherman or other fixed/folding knives)

I haven't been really impressed with the quality. I examined about half a dozen in the store and they all had problems like the bit not being in line with the handle and uneven grinds.
Perhaps what was on the shelf was the bottom of the barrel, but even so, if thats what passes for quality leaving the factory I wouldnt want to buy one without being able to hand pick it.

Oxhead Itis axes are a good alternative for the price. They're drop forged so they're all very uniform. The ones I've used have all been very nice, and thats what I'd use if I didnt have a gransfors.
