Wharncliffe Blade Folders?

Second that.

If you could wait for them to come out, Spyderco has 2 new blades that may interest you.
I agree with Danke42, the Techno 2 is going to definitely be a winner (sheepsfoot). And the Smock will have a wharnie blade with a front flipper and a button compression lock, another possible winner. I know I will get them for sure!

On the custom Smock that choil is a full finger choil. Wonder why they didn't go for that on the production Spydie...

I like the look of the Smock. It doesn't modify the blade with some ungainly hump to accommodate a hole opener.

I'd get one if it had a DEEP CARRY CLIP. Really like a DEEP CARRY CLIP. Don't know why mfgs avoid them.

I really like the Kershaw Leek. In various combinations of materials and blade steels, it offers a bunch for EDC.

Cold Steel Tuff Lite is a super inexpensive offering that really performs, Spyderco Q-Ball is out there, I really dig the Bestech Goblin as an itty bitty wharnie with a lot of charm.

I agree about the Tuff Light, I sharpened mine up really nice last night. A coworker had never seen one and was impressed with it and how well it fits in the hand for such a small knife. I told him to put it in his pocket. ;). Made my day. probably his too.

Together with Stretch. I think they make a good pair of EDC. Both has the clip & clip screws darkened by stove burning.

Lockbacks rules with its strong close bias, IMHO.

Fair enough. Thanks for the reply! Like you, I am a fan of lockback knives, but I can't think of a locking system offhand that is a deal breaker for me, certainly not the compression lock.

Lock back has better (best) closed detent and I don't care for the compression lock blade free fall.

I love wharncliffes - I like ZT 0456, Kizer Sheepdog, and Kizer Megatherium. All have good to great action

I like wharncliffes and sheepfoot blades, I confess I own more of the latter. Love my Yojimbo 2 wharncliff.

Of the three you named, two are sheepfoot - only the Megatherium is a true wharncliff, right? I realize wharncliff and sheepfoot are similar, of course.

The 0456 is a 'modified-wharncliffe' after I looked it up.

I'm not trying to be difficult - I only mentioned it because I know that BladeForums has new users every day, and I didn't want someone who is new to knives to look at a given model and think "So THAT is what a wharncliff blade is!"

I can't find any mention of the blade style on ZT's website ( I may have missed it ) but BladeHQ and KnifeCenter both list it as a sheepsfoot.

I must have looked at GP knives - they say

The Blade: Made from the exceptionally high-wear resistant and corrosion resistant CPM-20CV, the custom blade shape of the 0456 is a defining element in the style of this knife. The modified-Wharncliffe is highly utilitarian and the two-tone finish, with satin grinds and stonewashed flats, is easy on the eyes.

I don't think of it as a sheepsfoot but I get what you mean - sorry if I derailed this!

Kershaw Leek in carbon fiber and CPM 154 is a good choice. Pictured here with the CRKT Pilar.
