A Wharncliffe blade has a straight cutting edge. A lot of the knives pictured don't. No matter what the manufacturer calls it, without a straight edge it's not a Wharncliffe.

Myself, I'd recommend a Great Eastern Cutlery Wall Street. It's got the blade, it's a really good looking knife, and it's a lockback. Even better, it's a much nicer knife than anything short of a custom, and the price is less than many of those other recommendations. It's a knife you'll actually use and carry long after you realize how silly most of those "tactical" designs are.

True but the Curtiss F3 isn't really a wharncliff either it's more modified sheepsfoot

it's more modified sheepsfoot

Actually it's a modified drop point, and bears more resemblance to a Japanese Santoku blade than a sheepsfoot. The Sheepsfoot also has a straight cutting edge. As does the Lambsfoot.

Mmmmm maybe it has been mentioned before but probably you could get a Spyderco Centofante 4 for a lot less money than most of the above suggestions. Maybe the Spyderco Delica is on par.

I own a Centofante 3 (my first Spyderco) and I carry it often. Lightweight, thin hollow ground blade and somewhat classy! I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Centofante 4 if I was in the market for a wharncliffe folder.

I hope it helps,

Mikel

The Emerson PSARK has been around for a long time for good reason, it's a great knife. I'd post a pic of mine but I gave it to my son-in-law.
