Wharncliffe Neck Knife Model BEG-000-022

I'd like to throw in my two cents as well:
3.5-4.5 inch blade, your rock/knapped texturing in that outstanding wharncliff blade shape...sign me up as well!

Would like to get everyone's thoughts on the full rock pattern texture vs. the rock pattern lower w/ drill marked bolster area. Which would you prefer?
I would prefer full rock handle of #2 and the blade spine of #1. The only reason I didn't jump on either, but man I was close . . .

I also think a matched set of big and little blade would be neat. Pocket carry one and hip the other.

I'm drooling already. As I said earlier, I'll take an exact copy of the full-rock wharncliffe like #2 above. I love that knife and wish I'd seen it before it sold.

If you are looking for other ideas, along with all of the other great ones that have been mentioned I would like to suggest a scandi-grind wharncliffe full-rock version. Basically identical to #2 above, but with a scandi-grind rather than a flat-grind with secondary bevel edge. Just an idea, but this would be an ideal knife for me and would see daily use in the woods and the shop.

Again, beautiful work. I really love the rugged appearance of the full-rock finish, and the size/shape is perfect in my opinion.

By the way, is it me or did you strike a chord with these knives. Most custom knives get compliments, but not many of them get this many requests and pre-orders. Well done.

I'll have to think about the scandi-grind. I like the idea. I know I haven't seen anything like that before.

Yes, this listing has had a larger response than all my previous listing combined. Really blessed with this opportunity. This could possibly be the break through for me. Although this is just a part-time hobby for me right now, I would love to turn it into a business one day. How great would it be for your hobby to be able to support you and your family.

Thanks, again
Bryan

Arawn, I'll also add you to the list for the next batch.

Thanks

That would be great. I sincerely hope you are able to develop this into a full-time business. I'm sure there are a lot of individuals on this forum that can offer their wisdom and experience with regards to the challenges of going in this direction. I have no such experience or wisdom, but I do want to encourage you to continue in that direction. What do you do for a living currently?

I'm a draftsman at an industrial manufacturing plant. Cad design and 3D Modeling. Its a good job but working 50+ hours each week does not give much time for knife making. At some point, I will have to cut back on my hours (if I can?) and devote more time to building knives. Still think I have a long way to go to be a successful knife maker but I doesn't hurt to dream a little. Guess I'll figure something out when the time is right.

That's funny. I'm an architectural designer and draftsman at a Colonial Revival Design/Build/Manufacturing company in Vermont: Connor Homes. I've been there about 10 years. I design homes, do the architectural drawings on Autocad, put the house into a whole-house structural 3d modeling program that outputs all the componets (every board in the house) to a Hundegger saw that cuts everything. Then we panelize as much as possible and ship the homes as kits all over the East Coast. We mainly do large, architecturally ornate homes for the Hamptons, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard, but we've shipped as far as British Columbia. We also produce extremely high-end windows and doors for historical restorations on college campuses, historical institutional buildings like landmark buildings in Boston and New York, and other places that require historical accuracy and extreme detail.

Work is currently slow in my division, so I have five weeks off before we launch into the spring wave of house design and framing work. I've been thinking of doing some small-scale knife projects myself. I used to make knives, and swords back in the 70's and 80's. Nothing fancy, just utilitarian knives and blunt-edge swords that we fought with for sport. That was a whole lifetime ago, though, so my forge, anvils, sanders, and bellows are long gone. I'll probably just resign myself to being satisfied reading the forum and drooling over knives like yours. I would think that being able to duplicate the designs that are drawing such attention would make your knife-making hobby more lucrative. If you could reliably fill orders generated by word of mouth and internet advertising, it would be a good start, but I'm talking about things I have no experience in. I'm sure someone will come along soon, with advice grounded in real-life experience and success. If this discussion goes in that direction, and is shifted to a different part of the forum, please message me and let me know where to find it. I'm keenly interested.

Thanks again.

Just realized I had a typo in the description. The actual blade length is 2 5/8" not 2 1/8". If this is a problem Tim or Simon please let me know and we can work something out. For everyone that has signed up for the next batch and requested the same size please let me know if the 2 5/8" blade length is not ok. When I complete the next set I will make sure everyone knows the correct size they will be buying. Sorry for any confusion. I didn't want to update the post without making it aware.

I would be looking for something in the 3.5-4.5" range as it would be intended for open carry duties.

Thanks,
B

By far full rock. These are very nice!

I'd love to see one with 3.5" blade and 4.5" handle. Would be about perfect for me.

Those are incredible! I love wharnies and I LOVE the full rock pattern you did. I would be on the lookout for when you put out some more of these (hopefully a tad larger) as I would like to snatch one up. Keep up the good work!
