Bad What’s happened to the USPS

In all the years I’ve bought and sold on Bladeforums the majority of the times the package was sent or received via a 2 day priority flat rate box. The rate has increased by 50% (what hasn’t?) but the 2 days is now more like 5 days. I recently had a box go 350 miles within the same state take 6 days. Comments?
 
You're not wrong. It's become much more inconsistent, and the general level of service has dropped...though individual mail delivery folks can be excellent.
 
Yeah, priority vs standard post isn't really worth the extra money anymore.

I'm still grateful for USPS though... fedex are the absolute dregs.
 
Here it’s fedex that is terrible. UPS is hit or miss and usps is excellent. Probably just because it’s such a small town. Even coming in our regional centers are pretty small so that has to help out.
 
These days ,with the USPS >> be thankful if it shows ,forget about the time it takes .
 
The one plus with using priority mail is you get a tracking number. Sending anything, any way without a tracking number is asking for trouble.
 
I asked about the price hikes at the usps office a few days ago.. “seasonal increases”, “not going down”. I spent $48 bucks mailing two Esee 6 sized knives via priority mail ( domestic). The cost of everything is outrageous the past couple years.
 
I started using UPS Ground. It’s within a few bucks, and it actually arrives on time unless there’s a big weather event. Also, USPS seems to randomly deliver only 4 out of 6 days a week here, so I look for sellers that use UPS or FedEx when possible.
 
I love USPS, I get everything exactly when I expect to and don’t spend much on shipping. Pay online, drop off with a QR code, and they print the label. And I know they always come at the same time every day, FedEx and UPS are just random huge delivery windows for me.

Same time every day is indeed great.

I had to stay home to sign for a fedex delivery the other day (important meds) and the estimated delivery window was 10:30-12:45 , then it changed to "before 1:30", then it changed to "before end of day". Sure enough, the package was delivered at 7:30pm.

Can't stand fedex.
 
They lose billions of dollars a year, so clearly a poorly run operation. I have a package on the way right now that went from Utah to North Carolina, which i am directly in the middle of lol. I pulled up Maps and there is a good chance that plane had to fly over my town to make it to where it currently it.

Legendary service.
 
Everyone who sells items online should have a Pirate Ship Account. Its free and you get discounted rates on USPS and UPS shipping services. The savings can be pretty drastic too.
 
Following up on this,

I had a priority package picked up today (Monday) and the scheduled delivery was for Friday (MS to FL). Something has for sure happened to their delivery times.

I had a package that was supposed to be sent to me via usps on December 18th at 11 am. It was marked delivered at mailbox, but it turned out to completely vanish. I already cut my losses as I assumed it was mis-delivered to the wrong address and the person decided to keep it. Fast forward 23 days later it showed up as an Amazon prime package, I don't have Amazon prime. It's all very random
 
The last two packages that I either shipped or was supposed to receive have caused me to lose all confidence in the USPS. The one I shipped 2 day priority is taking 6 days and the one I was supposed to receive is on its 7th day and no sign of it. 🤞

USPS includes tracking with all parcels regardless of shipping method. Just gotta hope they do there job and actually scan it as often times when you check tracking it (nor my boss) has any idea where its at as tracking simply states “package is currently moving through the network”.

The real one plus with priority is they will give you free packaging. I will say from what I see on the inside we handle priority no different than ground so for us to make one service out to be faster ie priority is bs.

Eta-been noticing we now make ground packaging, been meaning to look into if we provide it for free though. If so than imo there is no reason to even use priority.


If you want it to change email your representatives and tell them to restore the funding and abolish the 50 year pension pre-funding requirement..
Did away with that in 2022. I often used this as an argument. Today, well, most from within blame the abundance of managers. Not sure I agree. Imo the union fighting for worthless shit bags in the issue.
