What’s the folding knife you feel comfortable using for everything and anything

Gonna have to go with my plain large 21 with ladder Damascus. Just one of my all time favorites I own.

How are you guys going to chop herbs or a pile of onions with a small knife? Bit by bit?

Do Chef’s knives not figure into daily use?

I’m sure some of you have many, but if you had to choose one. One knife that feel confident using for every and any task, both for your sake and the sake of your knife. For me it has to be something well made and durable but not something too high end or expensive. I tend to baby my expensive knives out of fear of damaging them.
Welcome to the forum.
I have to say that if I were forced to pick one knife for all uses it would not be a folder. To go with the theme of the thread I will pick the Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

It has a nice balance of over built toughness and still slices pretty good due to the hollow ground blade.

Here are just some of them... Actually most of my knives can be used everyday, everywhere, most of the time.

Herisson, what are your thoughts on your Nontron knife?

Viper Dan 2 when I'm in the garage or yard, which are about the only places where I actually use a knife. I do have many other overqualified letter/package openers. It's easy to bring back the edge after abuse. I do have to remind myself that it has no lock other than two fairly firm detents.

Sure, I think all of us are in agreement to fix plates would be a better way to go but, folders are a lot more convenient. I can carry them places I can’t even consider carrying a fixed blade.

The one in my pocket/on my belt.

When you get an expensive knife in, just take it outside and drop it on the sidewalk/street. Problem solved.

A buddy of mine said he used to fret over every scratch on a new piece of gear... until he bought a brand new Les Baer at Collector’s Firearms.

He put the new holster on his belt, went to put the gun in the holster (literally just outside the door), dropped it in on the ground, went to pick it up and kicked it under a car.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

After that he didn’t worry as much. He became a big fan of “character”.

I hope it wasn't hot.

Nope, he was gonna load it in the car. He said he was in a rush to throw it on his belt to see how it carried.

I never would’ve believed it if I hadn’t seen the gun. It didn’t get dinged up too bad, but it definitely had a few spots that were buggered up. Still shot great! Just not what you want for your brand new high dollar gun.

To answer the OP’s question, it was my Sere 2K, but she’s semi-retired. Now it’s probably my two sprint run Enduras. I have one of the two on me every day.

Spyderco Endura that a buddy sent me. Lately its been an Inkosi Insingo. My wife has long thick Auburn hair she kills vacuum cleaners.

Just last night I took the vac apart and scraped and cut out gobs of nasty hair from the brush with it. Most of your knobs will last forever yet alone your 1 knife. The guys on the forum each have what 10, 20 or hundreds of you do a poll. So if you are using your knives just use them.

If only one ,I'd probably go with a native 5 lightweight. Very tough knife with a string lock. Slices well and blade has enough length for most tasks.
I always have a case or buck stockman in addition to a modern folder. If not a stockman then an alox sak. Also always carry a Leatherman on my belt. A sak classic on the keychain. I think I'd be lost with only one
