What’s the smallest EDC knife you can get away with? Fixed or folding are fine.

My smallest edc fixed blade.. It's one of the polkowski ( don't remember the name) that gets very little edc time due to the value and collectability of the Polkowski Blades since they are scarcer than an honest politician. 2.5 inch blade with micarta slabs35e70607-1696-4516-aef8-dd02851c8362.jpg

Me personally, I like me some Esee Izula, Mora Eldris, and the Para 3. I’m perfectly happy with those. What works for you?

I could make do with a SAK probably, but I prefer carrying the sharp boys mentioned above. Perfect blend of want and need.
For a tiny folder, the Spyderco Ladybug or Dragonfly are hard to beat. They disappear in your pocket but can handle most daily tasks. For a small fixed blade, the Izula you mentioned is a classic for a reason.

For me it is the Spyderco Navigator II and of course the meerkat, same pattern with different locks. That is about as small as I can go and still open it one handed.
My EDC is the slightly larger Lil Native with the backlock. I had a Lil Native with a compression lock and to be honest I REALLY dislike the compression lock. The backlock is a joy to use and the slightly larger frame, specially the greater scale thickness makes i much easier to live with.

I prefer the Lil’ Native but there has been many a day I carried the Navigator II

I have for many years carried small fixed blades with blade lengths somewhere usually between2 and 2.5"s. OAL usually between 5.25 and 6 inches. Currently carrying a Horsewright Mestano similar to this one in wild cherry:

Here my daughter is looking at my Mestano:

I've found this size knife to be ideal while working or busy doing anything active. Out of the way till needed:

Used to carry a Gerber Paraframe Mini before I really got into knives, I'm not sure if that one's size is substantially different to a Sage 5, but after the addiction started, the Sage 5 was for a very long time the knife I carried exclusively, and I think it's about the smallest I'd wanna go. I need to cut plastic straps on a daily basis, but that could technically be done with scissors (blasphemy, I know!). Where I really like to have a knife with some blade length on me is when I'm out and about and need to cut open some bread rolls for eating. The Sage is capable of that, depending on the size of whichever bread needs cutting obviously, but I much prefer bigger blades.

Pretty much I like to think I NEED a blade long enough to cut up an apple to put in my yogurt .
so . . . Case Trapper minimum or even better length the Brad Zinker Urban Trapper (two of my all time favorite users ).
but
I just bought and have been carrying the Case Butterbean (super knife : crazy thin blades , lots of negative blade angle and my thumb and index finger grip locks in there like crazy ) . . .
so if it weren't for the apples . . .

SAK 84mm Climber or Golfer is about as small as I go these days. For a folder it’s a small Sebenza and fixed is a Spyderco Street Beat.
