What’s your favorite big name/well known/large scale production knife and/or company?

CRK is big name and well known...but large scale production?
Doesn't matter to me, just asking because I've seen them mentioned.
Looking at the past 10 years, my most carried (big name, large scale production) knives have been Buck 501, ZT 0200, and Reate K2. If I consider a longer time period, the Microtech LCC and Kershaw Vapor II would beat those out
For fixed blades, I'd have to say BK&T - I don't carry them; but I've definitely used them a lot. There are others that I've carried and used extensively. Some big names, but I don't consider them large scale production.

It's changed over the years. Started with Cold Steel, then Zero Tolerance, now it's Spyderco. Older Benchmades fit in there somewhere too. I don't remember where. Anyway, I'm sure it'll probably change again as my tastes continue to evolve but that's where it stands now.

What specific reasons and specific uses?
Spyderco due to the length and breath of their product offering, U.S. ownership and the fact that they do have some U.S. manufactured product in their line. You can find an appropriate Spyderco product for just about any cutting tool need/use.
Spartan (specifically the Harsey line) because it’s a 100% American made product designed, owned, and managed by ex-military service folks. I know of no more rugged, tougher folder than the SHF. I run into all kinds of situations here on the ranch and always have a Spartan handy. They’ve never failed me.

I said Spyderco because coolbreezy37 coolbreezy37 said large scale.

If smaller shops are allowed, I'll put CPK, Busse, and Hinderer first :)
I agree Roland, I’d definitely put those three first. The idea behind this thread was geared towards large scale “Everyman” type of knives that are household names and anyone can easily obtain. Knives that on every dealer’s site, usually in stock, and still are known for high quality and are moderately priced (generally between $50-$200). That’s why I put knives like Esee, Buck, Spyderco and the like as examples of choices. Pretty much everyone knows of them and that they are quality products backed by good customer service.

Spyderco. I've carried a Delica of some sort since the model was introduced.

Benchmade is a close second. My favorite is the discontinued 531.

Civivi, specifically the Baby Banter, is gaining ground.

Spyderco & Benchmades would do me fine although I do like what Hogue is doing. Their RSK is pretty much as good as a heavy EDC knife can get IMHO.
I think if i had to pick 1 from each maker from what i got:
Manix 2 lime green knifejoy exclusive, Benchmade 940-2 and my orange Hogue RSK. I think. I'd miss my small knives though. lol.

I don't buy much in the way of production knives these days, but Spyderco. I have a Manix 2 CTS-XHP, GB1, PM2, YO2, and Domino.

I don't like thumbstuds so that eliminates a lot of the competition.

Although I only own two, I really dig Heretic thus far.

I'm a bit of a Spartan fan myself
