What specific reasons and specific uses?Spyderco & Spartan: Each for specific reasons and specific uses.
Spyderco due to the length and breath of their product offering, U.S. ownership and the fact that they do have some U.S. manufactured product in their line. You can find an appropriate Spyderco product for just about any cutting tool need/use.What specific reasons and specific uses?
I agree Roland, I’d definitely put those three first. The idea behind this thread was geared towards large scale “Everyman” type of knives that are household names and anyone can easily obtain. Knives that on every dealer’s site, usually in stock, and still are known for high quality and are moderately priced (generally between $50-$200). That’s why I put knives like Esee, Buck, Spyderco and the like as examples of choices. Pretty much everyone knows of them and that they are quality products backed by good customer service.I said Spyderco becausecoolbreezy37 said large scale.
If smaller shops are allowed, I'll put CPK, Busse, and Hinderer first![]()
I'm a bit of a Spartan fan myselfSpyderco due to the length and breath of their product offering, U.S. ownership and the fact that they do have some U.S. manufactured product in their line. You can find an appropriate Spyderco product for just about any cutting tool need/use.
Spartan (specifically the Harsey line) because it’s a 100% American made product designed, owned, and managed by ex-military service folks. I know of no more rugged, tougher folder than the SHF. I run into all kinds of situations here on the ranch and always have a Spartan handy. They’ve never failed me.
