What’s Your Favorite LARGE Spyderco for Daily Carry?

If memory serves I've owned three Spydies that could count as large: Military, serrated Pacific Salt, serrated Police. Off the cuff I'd have said the Military was my favorite, and it's the one I carried the most -- but the Pac Salt is the only one I still own. It's my light-duty or backup knife for hiking, and I love it. :)

The Police 4 in K390 (the one with the scales, not the lightweight) seems to get universal praise from the YouTube experts. I guess it has to do with the design, the steel liners, the scale material (not sure if it's G10), and the K390. Do you happen to own the Lightweight Police 4 in K390 as well? I'd like to know how they compare.

Sorry if this is Off Topic.

I do own both the G-10 P4 in K390 and the lightweight FRN P4 in K390. The G-10 is a few grams heavier, gives good traction without being too abrasive and has a more expensive "feel". The FRN offers a bit less weight to carry around, even better traction in hand at the expense of being a bit more abrasive to the pocket and has a somewhat more...well "hollow plastic feel" is probably the best description I can manage. That said, the FRN version is the one you'll find in my pocket most of the time. Even better, you can get it in full serrated, and if you have the time and patience to reset the bevel to 15°, is an absolute beast of a cutting machine.

When I want to carry a smaller knife my new favorite is the Tropen. My usual EDC is 5.5"-6". I carry a smaller knife too. I don't really consider many Spyderco Folders as large.

I wish I could get a serrated knife to change angles. If I could I’d buy a serrated police 4 tonight. I already want the plain edge almost bad enough to buy right now but with a Endela K390 it’s hard to justify.

I don't carry any really large ones but I frequently carry a Military or a Manix 2 XL (both in Jade/M4). The smallest I will carry is the little PM2.

If you like the Endura you'd probably like the Military. I carry a Manix 2 more than any other bigger Spyderco.

Carried this all day. Good pocket filler.

Hey all.

Glad I found this section!!

I have carried a standard Endura with plain blade and lightweight black handles for the last 15-20 years. It’s a fantastic knife. So…I PREFER and like the BIGGER knives.

Since I have had this Endura for so long, I think it’s time for something new. I’ve thought about going with a flipper from some other brand, but I think I’ll stay with Spyderco. Just something about that look and feel.

I’d like to get some ideas and suggestions on what models I should be taking a look at and considering.
What LARGE Spyderco’s do you like and carry?

Suggestions and advice???

Thanks for your time and any help you care to give me.

BD.
My all-steel, blackout Police has been a faithful friend for more than 20+ years. Sure is heavy, though, so it's jeans only.

A little too much play in the blade these days, so it's about to go back to Spyderco for some well-earned R&R. Guess I'll just have to buy another Spydie as a stand-in--something not quite as big as the Police. Just a substantial EDC. Any suggestions anyone?

My daily carry these days is either a Pacific Salt 2 LC200n, Pacific Salt H1 SE, or some flavor of Endura. Knowing this, and if it were me looking for a larger EDC Spyderco, I'd take a long look at the Resilience in S35vn, Police 4, or Native Chief.

I've had quite a few Militaries (4 or 5) and the K2. While they were nice, I never got over the tip down clip and they just didn't get carried enough to justify a spot in the stable.

The Endura platform is hard to beat though!

When out and about, I usually carry an Endura VG10 on dry days and a Pacific Salt 2 H1 on rainy days (almost every day during the summer here). They are the same size and shape, so they both fit beautifully in the same horizontal belt sheath from Amazon. For hard use, I have other knives. I also have an Atlantic Salt with LC200N, but the edge retention is disappointing.
