What’s your max?

I started a thread like this a while ago (maybe 2 or 3 years ago , not sure) just to see what everyone’s max price point is on a single knife. And since things change , I figured I’d start a new more current one.

So what’s the maximum you’d spend on a single knife?

I once did 300 on the flat bench. Wait. Knives? Depends. Folder - 200. Fixed - 500.

This all depends on how much I've warmed up to a particular brand or knife. Generally, about $150 if it's new or I'm unfamiliar with the brand. Maybe around $200 if it's a brand I'm familiar with but typically buy less expensive knives from to begin with and I still see value in the cost (like Spyderco). More than that and it has to be something I've taken a real specific liking to with a reputation that can prove itself (CRK). At that point, my max becomes more subjective on a knife to knife basis.

I'd say $250-300 is about as much as I'd be willing to spend on a knife. Less for a production folder.

I've gone to $1200 before but my comfort zone on actual users apparently is under $200.
I'll carry that $1200 piece just for fun but if I have to really use it....I'll pull a secondary slippie.

I’ve got 3 that were over 500$. Most between 150-400$. Got a decent ‘budget’ selection started now too.
I have a hard time justifying more than 350ish for a knife, which sucks because my list has several well beyond my comfort zone.

Depends on the knife and maker. I'll gladly pay up to $500 for quality, but I won't pay a penny extra for "pretty."

Limits are good. Self-imposed limits keep people from blowing their rent money on a Medford or some other nonsense.

If you’ve got no limits on your own purchase ceiling, good for you.
