Well my birthday is on the 6th of November and I want a Benchmade griptillian but my dad says no knife over $50 its not worth the money.I like the Kershaw Cryo ll but give me some ideas y'all,Thanks- Garrett

Ooh lots of choices. Tell us a little more. What tasks will you be using the knife for? What knives do you currently own? Anything you don't like in a knife?

And as to the blanket statement that no knife over $50 is worth it, ask him why he doesnt drive a Chevette, a car is a car after all, and one that costs more isn't any better...

If he does drive a Chevette, then I have no idea how to help you.
Good luck, and happy bday. The Grip is a good knife for the money, but also look at the spyderco sage 1, close in price points if you shop around.

Have him shop the exchange on here, can find one for under $50, I saw a grip for $50 yesterday.

Not sure if your price point is $40 or $50 so I'll recommend a few:

Under $30 Ontario Rat 2

Under $40 Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence

Under $50 Kershaw Leek

But if your price limit is $50 I cannot recommend the Spyderco Delica enough. It can be had for $55 and IMO is every bit as good of an EDC blade as a Mini Griptilian. It's a great slicer, light, has good steel, and is worth every bit of its price tag. Good luck and happy birthday.

Well, first of all your dad is wrong about more expensive knives not being worth the money. But regardless, there are plenty of great budget options out there.

Since I'm not sure exactly what you want in a knife, here are some of the most popular budget choices:
Ontario Rat 1/2
Onario Utilitac 2
Ontario/ESEE Zancudo/Avispa
Kershaw/Emerson collabs: CQC-1 through CQC-8
Kershaw Skyline
Kershaw Leek
Spyderco Tenacious

I like medium sized knives but i want a good edc knife for everyday tasks.I have an Ozark Trails folding knife from walmart,a schrade 4x4 and a whitetail cutlery saddle knife.I dont like serrated blades thats really it so thanks for the feedback wtlj !

In any order:
Spyderco Tenacious
SOG Twitch 2
Ontario Rat for sure:thumbup:
Kershaw Skyline
Buck Select Vantage

Cold Steel Hold Out II or Recon 1. The fully serrated version of the Hold Out is about $30 at alot of online stores, buy then sharpen/grind off the serrations. I'm going to buy another soon. Recon 1 at some places is about $40 now. The Griptilian is also a great knife have 4 of them. Two OD green's , one is D2 , and a 551-1301. Have 556's also in different configurations.

Kershaw probably has the biggest selection of sub-$50 priced knives that are actually pretty decent.
Like someone else mentioned though, keep watching the Exchange section of the forums and you will a least get to see a great variety of different knives and probably find a great deal.

+1 to the Kershaw Skyline, also the Kershaw Leek can be found for $45 and it holds a special place in my collection, it kicks my $100+ knives out of my pocket sometimes
