What $40 or lower pocketKnife should i get

If you have a few $$, you could ask your dad if you could make up the difference so you could get the Grip.

Don't do it!!! I can't believe no one said Buck Vantage, and in your price the Avid model has great steel! It's USA made, lifetime warranty, amazing for the price what you get. I'd also look at the Buck 110, not tactical, but beyond useful for hard work.

I'll echo the Kershaw-Emerson collaboration pieces mentioned earlier. If you like the size of the Cryo 2, you might look at the CQC-6K. Here's a pic of it next to a Cryo 2. I actually like it a bit more than the Cryo 2.

Kershaw Skyline has good steel (14C28N) and can be had for $40 and is a great EDC knife. However I'd HIGHLY recommend spending an extra $20 and getting a Spyderco Delica 4. Well worth it. And your dad is wrong no offense

How has nobody mentioned Opinel? Plenty of choices and decent steel, sheeple friendly, and secure lock...

Baryonyx has a grade B Opinel 8 with "minor handle blemish" for cheap, not that the $16 full retail is expensive by any means...

Not sure if your price point is $40 or $50 so I'll recommend a few:

Under $30 Ontario Rat 2

Under $40 Spyderco Tenacious or Persistence

Under $50 Kershaw Leek

But if your price limit is $50 I cannot recommend the Spyderco Delica enough. It can be had for $55 and IMO is every bit as good of an EDC blade as a Mini Griptilian. It's a great slicer, light, has good steel, and is worth every bit of its price tag. Good luck and happy birthday.

I owned a Spyderco Tenacious for awhile and I loved it. Got rid of it because a friend needed an EDC work knife. The handle was great. Best feeling Spyderco I have ever held. Would buy another if they made it with a little better blade steel.

Dad does know everything! But you can take him over to kershawguy.com and browse. Both of you can decide "together" what you like and can afford AND you can kinda nudge the decision, especially if you look first. And ordering on line is not bad...this website ships to me in two days ( Washington to NC).

I'm still big on the RAT's for under $50.

If you want a more rugged knife get a RAT 2. If you want more of a gent's knive, get the Leek.

Check out the Kershaw/Emerson collaborations. They're all very worth the thirty to forty dollar price tag.

Well my birthday is on the 6th of November and I want a Benchmade griptillian but my dad says no knife over $50 its not worth the money.I like the Kershaw Cryo ll but give me some ideas y'all,Thanks- Garrett

What's the price of the BM from the retailer of your choice?

For under $50 you can get a vic cadet AND an opinel or 2. They're not flashy but they are solid classics everyone should own. Plus it will show your dad you value utility over tacticoolness.

i believe you meant SOG trident, and yes, thats a pretty good one for $50 bucks, ive always like sog, and my brother in law whos a firefighter and climber, loves his as his EDC

Go with the Kershaw Thermite. You get a better blade shape and a G10 handle scale, stock. You still get the framelock and lockbar stabilizer that the Cryo II has, but enhanced grip and slightly lighter weight.

Plus you get that Spanto blade! Here's my Blackwash version:

I have a Cryo II and Skyline in my collection (among several other ZT and Kershaw products). I recommend the Skyline for EDC use. It's half the weight, same blade length, and carries much better in the pocket. The Cryo II is a little tank of a knife and much wider. You get a better blade steel on the Skyline along with USA made. I got mine from kershawguy as a blem for $29 shipped.
