Not trying to be mean, just sometimes people's preference in knives differ so much from my own I can't help but chuckle at the absurdity/loudness/wowfactor. A friend of mine wants to edc this thing

I do like the finish but a karambit just doesn't make sense for me personally as an edc.:D

Knives "made" by gun makers with names like "Extreme Ops" make me laugh. So do the people who own them! Clueless!

What really makes me laugh are people who seek to define knife preferences of all based on their own preferences.

These people that think if you have a lot of knives and don't use them all, then you are harming their little knife souls. That makes me laugh, or at least smile a little.

I can't help but chuckle when I look at one of my pair of Spydie CF Dodo's, the backup one being depicted below:

My carry version lacks the clip. The first thing a 'newby' says when I present it to open the mail - or a package - is, "That's a funny-looking knife!". And - they are correct!!

Stainz

I laughed when i pulled my HoldOUT 1 out of the box and deployed the blade. I think it was a combination of massive blade size goodness and also thinking what mall ninja-ie overkill . But the more i carry it and use it the more cereal i get about it. Think i'm gonna take the serrations off today so i can use it more frequently.

When people scorn you for paying more than $10 for a knife and then proceed to buy $100 dollars worth of booze that lasts an evening.

I'm not judging their decisions as bad at all. Some products are aware of how absurd their design is and it's just done for the fun factor. That's the kind of laugh I'm talking about.

Fanboys who get personally offended if you don't like a knife or have problems with a knife from their favorite manufacturer...

People who just LOVE hard use folders, and only use them to open envelopes, make me laugh...as do people with gentleman's knives who are anything but gentlemen.

Me too! And in addition to that, and the thing I posted before about laughably ridiculous "extreme spec ops" knives distributed by gun makers (and the goofs who own them!), another thing that busts me up is n00bs who own like 2 or 3 knives who think they can now judge knife design and peoples' knife design preferences!

Those people are even more laughable!

Seriously, they crack me up!

What makes me laugh are the pretentious snobs who enjoy making snide comments about anyone's post or stated opinion that doesn't fall within the parameters of what they consider a "serious" collector/user.

People who go on a 2 mile hike with 3 pounds of cutting tools because they "need" them.

2 things.
1. People who are completely obsessed with the weight of a knife and flip out if its over 3.2 ounces and actually think they can tell a difference if its 3.06 ounces but carry 2 other SAKs, a flashlight, and 6 other gizmos.

2. The term "EDC". "I like to EDC this knife a couple times a week." or "This thing is my EDC carry"

The world is full of self-proclaimed experts, just look up any knife review on Amazon, the internet's full of 'em, but difference between an educated opinion based on experience vs opinions driven by the desire to be right.

There is no substitute for experience, it's the mistakes and what we learn from them differentiate us from other mammals. Credibility is earned, not a right. You can't be an expert if you don't know what you're talking about.

I just like how diverse everyone's opinion is on knife designs and styles. I also think it's funny when friends give me a hard time for spending $100 on a folder.

When it comes to knives, I am a very utilitarian guy. So 95% of what I see in the knife industry makes me laugh.

Insane blade profiles
Weird handle "ergonomic" designs
Exotic designer steels
Odd handle materials
Tactical pretty much anything
Calling fullers "Blood Grooves"
Extremely thick blade stock
Weird blade finishes
Super tactical sheaths that make no sense
Saw spines

I could go on for hours.

When people put a $300 titanium/copper/silver skull/bead on a $25 knife I admit I chuckle. Kinda like $7,000 rims/tires on a Yugo. But to each his/her own.

People who own a black coated knife blade, claim to have used it "hard for 6 months" and when they do their utube review, not ONE scratch on the black coating. 6 months of envelope opening doesn't count as "hard use" in my book.

People who look down on less expensive knives. "You carry a Boker Trance? Oh. I carry a ___________!"

Funniest = The cutlercorner.net infomercial at 4am on Sat/Sun. 200 knives for $198? MSRP of $300,000. How can you pass that up? Thankfully I was born with willpower.
