What about knives/knife people just makes you laugh?

Knife people who complain that they are treated by the general population as a 'persecuted minority' for carrying knives, who then turn around and put down others for being different or having different beliefs (which martial art they study, religious or non-religious beliefs, different nationalities, etc.).

2. The term "EDC". "I like to EDC this knife a couple times a week." or "This thing is my EDC carry"

I like and use the term "EDC". It hurts my brain when it gets used incorrectly, though. "EDC carry" is "every day carry carry". Using "EDC" in place of "carry", when the item isn't actually carried every day, etc. My sig line on another board is, "if you don't carry it every day, it's not every day carry".

@ original topic:

When people consciously or unknowingly push their preferences on other people. The weight thing is a great example. I respect preferences. If a guy thinks the Delica is the greatest folder of all time because of the weight, I'm happy for him. I start shaking my head when "I prefer knives under 3.5oz" turns into "that's too heavy. YOU won't carry it. YOU will leave it at home." Similarly, I find it entertaining when guys rant about tenths of ounces, then put out an EDC update video and pull 6 knives out of a fanny pack.

6 x 3.0 = 18.0

but my ZT 0550's 6.0oz weight is unbearable?

Good times.

People who still call them fanny packs, they're BOBs, nobody carries/wears a fanny pack anymore. ;)

I forgot about the knife weight. I'm 6'8" and 320 lbs. An extra few ounces in one of my pockets isn't enough to make me walk in circles because I'm leaning to one side.

I'm not judging their decisions as bad at all. Some products are aware of how absurd their design is and it's just done for the fun factor. That's the kind of laugh I'm talking about.

Like this knife!

Anybody who would like that bit of nonsense (look at those handle ergo!) is certainly worthy of private and public ridicule!

What really makes me laugh are people who seek to define knife preferences of all based on their own preferences.

This.... I daily carry a ZT0301 'cause I like it. It isn't going to slice like an Opinel or a slip joint. It is big, heavy, overbuilt and scares people. But I love it!!

If that makes me a mall ninja than I will bear that label with pride :D

This is what makes me laugh about knife people....

  • When people say they EDC an item but they really don't. EDC does not mean some of the time, it means EVERY DAY.
  • People who need "hard use" whatever when they have an office job, and will never use said item outdoors.
  • People that "hard use" their knives and by hard use they mean opening boxes / envelopes.
  • People that want to "fix" the scratches on their knife. WTF?

OMG I love it.... ordering one right now so I can "sweep through flesh and bone" and "chew through anything with the Piranha jaw"

I can picture "that guy" that would carry this thing around in the woods.

Secondly, anyone pulling knives out of a fanny pack...

There is an EPIC thread about this very knife/maker, Richard J Lightning, lol, somewhere. Comes complete with maker meltdown, shill accounts, and threats of legal action for hurt feelings! I will have to see if I can find it. :D

Get some popcorn and find a comfortable seat, lol. :D

The question, "Are XYZ knives over priced.", when the XYZ company has been around a long time and sells all they can make.

Nutnfancy. He complains about weight and then carries several knives in his fanny pack for testing. That's not redundancy. That's just stupid.

Oh. You find my opinion/taste in knives laughable!?!

Not at all, you obviously didn't read my previous post. Whats amusing to me is your pretentiousness and your assuming that ridiculing anyone based on their knife selection is justifiable.

I was too lazy to look for it, but that thread was what made me aware of the RAZR knife in the first place. Tastes vary, but I have yet to meet someone who thinks this knife is anything but a gullibility test.

I agree that the thread meets the definition of EPIC---one of the most entertaining I can remember.

Actually there for weight reduction. Official term isn't blood groove either.

I apologize, I should have made this more clear. It makes me laugh when fullers are called blood grooves. Like when a firearm magazine is called a clip. It makes me lol.

People who completely ignore knives that are made overseas.

Things made in China or Taiwan aren't automatically bad, it's the quality control that matters. A good example of well-done quality control would be the Spyderco Tenacious. And there are others that stand out as well, like the Ontario Utilitac series.

And of course I'm not saying that it's silly to support your own country's knifemakers or even prefer USA-made products over China and Taiwan made products. By all means, do so. But people who completely ignore every knife that isn't made in the US (or whatever country they may live in) are being a bit silly in my opinion.
