What are people;s opinions of CRKT knives? nt

Use the search function, meisenzahl. It will get you a lot more information than a thread. If you have a particular model in mind, all the better.

I think the consensus is "good knife for the price, but second-tier quality."

I've a friend that owns several and enjoys them. I believe that for the money you spend, you certainly get your money's worth. They seem to be quite well made.

Hope this helps...

Check out the Navajo, if you like. The quality seems to be a cut above (or more) than some of their others. And you can't argue against the M-16's especially for the price. And the whole line is maybe one of the best values on the planet.

Not sure I feel the same on the Navajo, two friends of mine have them, and both have slight horizontal blade play with the pivot tightens correctly.

The M16 however is a great series. I had a M16-14MIL, fun knife to own, solid lockup, and the flipper was a blast :)

Like many others, I will say that for the money charged they are an excellent knife. I have only owned one and it was an M16 and I thoght it offered great value. I gave it to a friend so that he could have a decent knife.

I consider them an excellent entry level knife. Probably the best value in it's class. I always recommend them for people looking for a good user.

I think they are huge value for the money and they have some great collaborations going on resulting in some really stylish/functional stuff. It is not high-end, but I'm always pleasantly surprised by how much knife you can buy for so little and they're basically disposable. I've particulary enjoyed the P.E.C.K.s and last summer the Bearclaw was great for gutting fish.

I have to agree with the rest of you guys. It is a good entry level, or user knife. Especially for those times you don't want to use a high end custom to cut a piece of gritty carpet.

I have found the new M18 models to be the best so far. Better fit and finish than any before. The steel, AUS-8, is also quite good. Probably the one steel that I have the most experience with.

CRKT is a good company that is only getting better. They have had a very steep learning curve over the last few years, and in my mind, will become better with time.

Good entry level, beater, kids 1st, toss one in the glove box knife. Steel upgrade and thicker liner lock would bring CRKT t a new level.

I'll agree with the gang on this one. I own about 10 CRKT's and everyone is rock solid and for the money an excellent knife.

I am particularly fond of the new Carson F-4 neck knife. after adding a few things to the sheath, I have a fantastic EDC now.

I'm a big fan of the Apache series, and own all three sizes. T6 alum. handles with ATS-34 blades, and extremely sharp OOTB. Also, the older model Mirage makes a very durable, low cost beater. I plan on picking up an M16-13 LE or MIL. soon.

Hey Christopher... Did you notice you're the only one using the -nt-
"thing"...?

No offense, but it looks a little bit "uninterested". The software on this forum is designed for leaving at least a little bit of text in the message-space. I've seen some comments on your posts that seemed slightly irritated and this might have been the reason. Correct me if you think I'm wrong.

...And ofcourse a Happy New Year from a fellow TZ'er! ;)

Peter, I did catch that. ;-)

I figured that might be happening. Thanks for the heads-up, and have a good new year as well!

Christopher

I think the CRKT Mirage may be one of the best values in the knife world. I picked one up on Ebay last week for $14, gotten along with another knife I bought.

$14 for a well made production liner lock really isn't a bad deal at all.

Outstanding value. It may be all the knife that many people need. Of course, certified "knifeknuts" (like me) will always find ways to spend outlandish sums on the latest and greatest, but CRKT is coming out with better and better products all the time.

I have had a few for the money there ok if you like the low budget stuff to kick around there popular around here on the forums enough said before i go off on how i really feel :)

Most of their knives are pretty nice for the price. They aren't the most quality knives around, but for a beater or work knife they fit the bill. I have the CRKT Ryan Model 7 and the CF M16, they are solid, came shaving sharp, and the lockup was good. If only CRKT used better materials, they would be up their with Spyderco and Benchmade as their QC is very good.
